No matter the "why", it always hurts to lose one of us. Prayers for the family and friends.

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.

Re: Plane late Wolfpoint to Billings

Now I have a moral dilemma of a 3 hour flight or a 14 hour drive to the funeral. I think the weather may give me a mulligan on that decision but still....

Nosedragger

I'm sorry for your family's loss.

In regards to driving/flying? Remember part of safe flying is making sure you are mentally ready. I have been in your shoes and made the wrong decision. During USAF pilot training I attempted to continue my training flights for approx 1 week before my grandfather's funeral. During a formation landing on about the third sortie since he died I completely lost it!. Fortunately for me I had an IP with me who was able to take the jet on rollout and taxi us in, because at that point I couldn't even do that simple task. I have also flown with friends as a safety pilot under similar circumstances. I recommend not flying if you are going to be the only pilot qualified for the aircraft on the trip.

You're right Jughead. The flight there over the Tetons, Yellowstone Lake and Cody in the morning is always peaceful but afternoon flights home getting beat to jelly aren't fun and we'll be tired. I barely knew the deceased, I'm going to support my brother in law, but watching little kids bury their Daddy will suck. I'll be a mess, better to just drive.

I'm sorry to hear this, Nosedragger. I lost my father about a year ago 40 miles east of Vida where he crashed his Citabria.

Tough stuff.
