Reds Wallowa Horse Ranch?

Anyone flown in here lately? Wondering if its doable in a 172 with stock tires or if that's just some silly pipe dream? On google earth it looks like there plenty of room to get off the ground and climb out the valley over Minam Lodge assuming the grass is in good shape, but having never been there I have no clue what its like. Looks like a nice place to camp though!

Edit: After seeing some videos online looks like I'd prolly want something else to get back in there. Doesn't hurt to ask though, but either way a conditions update would be great!

Re: Reds Wallowa Horse Ranch?

Good Evening Choss,

There's been 172's in and out of there quit often, but I don't know if it's been mowed this year yet, I haven't been in there since Mid May. If you have pants on, I'd take them off too. When landing, just keep in mind that there is a drainage ditch on the west side of the strip in the tall grass and out of site, so just stay on the runway and don't stray to the west. I'll give my speech about flying in the early morning for best performance and if you're not familar with canyon winds, be tied down by 10 AM. You will love it in there too. Please call or email me if you have anymore questions.

Thanks so much! That about sums up everything I'd need to know. Now I guess I'd just be curious if it has been mowed yet this year or not? :D

Looking forward to checking it out!
