StillLearning wrote:I finally installed my seats in my 180. I had an articulating pilot seat, and both seats had been reupholstered a few years back, so they were in good shape. But, I determined that the articulating seat had me sitting lower than I could be with a different seat, and it was heavy.
So, I found a set of 1957 172 seats that were horribly ugly but the frames were solid. I stripped them down, had them powder coated and finished them off with new upholstery from Sport Aircraft Seats. They look good, they feel good, and it raised me up about 2.5 to 3 inches. I can now see the top of the cowling, the improvement is huge. I am absolutely tickled with how they turned out, and it was easy to do. I also saved over 14 pounds by going this route!
