When the new passport reg's for Canada trips were announced early last year, I got a passport. Shortly thereafter they came up with this "enhanced drivers license" idea here in Washington. The new document requirements are taking effect soon (June), and they've been showing ads on TV for the enhanced drivers license. The catch phrase is "by land or by sea, use enhanced ID"-- does this mean the enhanced DL is no good for border-crossing via airplane? I've also heard references to a "passport card"- anyone know about that?
I have the passport, but a simple card would be a good show as I'd always have it with me, fits in my wallet, etc. The enhanced DL costs $15 extra, since I need to renew next month anyway I was thinking about getting one. But since the only times I've crossed the border in 17 years of living on the frontier has been by airplane, if they don't work for that I won't bother.
