Phil, the high frame rate makes the prop somewhat more shapely but I still find it distracting and unnatural I prefer invisible with hints of tip.

Can I make a request? How about an in cockpit view of working the controls? You could've logged like 3200 landings on that last video. It would be cool to see all the throttle/flap/stick n rudder action goin on in there.

Typically I have to watch your videos in smaller segments and come back to finish them. 20 minutes is a little long.

Just some more constructive feedback. Keep at it!

MVFR this morning so I dropped the frame rate back to 60, and since I mounted the camera inside this time I put the ND filter back on to reduce the prop artifacts. Didn’t think about setting the exposure back to normal, that might have helped the gray sky washout (or is it the ND filter that’s doing that). Air was rather “sporty” today so restricted where I could play, but wanted to try out the new camera location. Decided on no music this time so the throttle changes could be heard clearly. Any suggestions on how to improve always welcome.

Evan, near the ground it was 10 gusting to 25.

Then a wind shear a couple of hundred feet AGL at a steady 30. Always fun when you can surf a plane in the wind.

That looked like a lot of fun. I especially like the different landing spots you played with at no-name river bend. Did you see the changes in the waterfall strip before landing or did it surprise you once you got on the ground?

It surprised me. I've landed that strip enough times to know that even wet it's no problem for the 35's, but the grass (or whatever it is) is so thick and lush that I couldn't see down through it. The water was a lot further into the grass then I expected.

We had another 5 days of rain and low ceilings. You know, one of those weeks when you were glad you hadn’t flown somewhere and were trying to get home, cause you’d be stuck in a hotel. Then the Wx started to break but the emperor wannabe came to town to play with the children so was stuck under a TFR for a day. But the next day I was up to see what had changed.

One of my favorite creeks had enough water flowing through it that almost all the channels and bars have changed. Then it was over to the island and as I suspected it was now two islands and one of our strips was underwater and the other two shortened. Of course the waterfall strip has been underwater for a while now but this rain put my little green grass patch completely in standing water so it’s no longer landable either. If I had a float plane I know where I’d be now.

Yesterday was one of those perfect air days, and put a huge smile on my face. As you’ll see in the video Lake Buchanan is still on the rise. Our 1,000 foot island strip is now 450 feet. Of course the two cross strips are completely underwater.

As you can tell from the video the lake is right next to the runway, and still rising. It's possible it goes underwater as well. So yes, gonna have to rethink where we can fly out to on Sunday. A bunch of private grass strips we can hit but I really wanted to take folks to some off-airport areas as well. We will see what we end up with.

Found some new sand/gravel bars on a recent scouting trip, decided to land them yesterday. On the way hit the usual suspects, on the way back dropped in at the island strip which keeps shrinking.

This past weekend I was invited to join some friends flying to the Big Bend area of Texas. We stayed and based out of the Terlingua Ranch Lodge.

Our group was composed of a 180, 182, some Maules, some Huskeys, a Super Cub, a Carbon Cub, and of course the SQ2. Being the slowest I led the pack. A few of us dropped in at Scalywag’s ranch, he of course was ‘pushing doggies’, we chatted a bit and later that evening he flew over in his 180 to join us for the night.

I’d flown over this part of Texas many times in the 185 but decided to take the SQ2 thinking I’d have tons of off-airport opportunities. I forgot that in this part of Texas nearly everything that’s green has thorns, okay spikes really, so there weren’t as many places to play as I’d hoped. But I still had a good time, got to fly the SQ2 in High DA conditions for the first time, and saw plenty of wildlife including: desert bighorn sheep, aoudad, scimitar-horned oryx, pronghorn, mule deer, buffalo, coyotes, and of course lots of rabbits and birds of prey.
