Trying to find some good mount positions for the new Go-pro.

Oh man.... Can you take a picture of how you set it up on the tail?? Those are some awesome shots! I'd like to see if I could do something like that on the Citabria.

That one was fairly easy. I just put one of the flat stick on mounts on the tail spring between the mounting bolts. I ran a zip tie around it for added safety as well as putting a leash on the camera just in case. I'll try to remember to get a picture of the mount but this weekend we're socked in with bad weather. Catching up on editing a lot of raw footage.

FWIW... I would caution the use of a "leash" on the camera. Far better IMO to let the camera go than have it whacking around back there in the breeze. The damage the camera will do will be way more expensive than its replacement.

Dealing said missile's damage after ground impact might be a different story...

Calling it a "leash" is a bit of a misnomer. It's more of a safety line. If it were to come off the mount it can only move around about an inch or so. And the only thing it can contact is the upper part of the tail spring.

Ahh I never thought about using the 3M mount. That does look like a good spot, thanks.

BTW niiiiice landing there on grass

I like that position as well. The 3M tape does work well and I've never had it come off on my mounts.
This is another way I mouned my gopro on my citabria.


Just a longer bolt with washers to fill the gaps in the mount so it doesn't break when tightening. This allows me to have the camera facing the cockpit or forward. Also have one attached to my ski bungee attach. Not sure if I like that position or not, maybe a bit to much cowling.

That's a good idea.. How is the vibration on that wing mount?

The vibration is pretty much non existent. I am very happy with it.
