Ha. I'm normally a bleeding heart, but... not much to say. I think we're all pretty much on the same page. It seems like many of the people cheering him on feel like aircraft owners have deep pockets and the loss is somehow mitigated by our "affluence." #-o When this guy starts raiding the refrigerators and garden sheds of Joe Sixpack...look out. Playing the public perception is like owning a pet rattlesnake.

Re: The Kid Who Steals Planes

I posted this once and it didn't show up???

My Father-in-Law lives in Arlington Wa. He is staying at his mothers house taking care of her (She's 89) so his house is vacant. He keeps horses there and goes there every day to feed. A few months ago, as he was getting hay, he heard a noise and on looking up, saw someone coming at him. He hit the kid and knocked him around a bit, but he managed to get out the door and disappear into the woods. It was dark, so he didn't pursue him and couldn't ID him either. His barn like most, is dimly lit. My father-in-law is a retired cop and still a pretty tough guy. He didn't get hurt, but said he's pretty sure the kid has a few bruises. Unfortunately, this was one of the times he wasn't carrying his .45.
He thinks it may well have been this kid. He's not far from the kids home turf.
Would have been cool though if he had caught the little shit.

Re: The Kid Who Steals Planes

My favorite 22-250 load is with a 55gr Hornaday V-Max. I'd be more than willing to donate the round, and/or the shot itself to send young Robin Hood back to where he belongs. Which is what will happen eventually. He'll break into the wrong (or right) place and the homeowner will just shoot him.

Great Facebook page...

Bunch of skateboarders living at home with mommy, cheering this thief on. If any of them had actually earned anything in their little lives, they might see the trauma and sense of violation this little creep has caused among his victims.

My aircraft survival toy is a Rossi .243/20 Ga. I bet the 243 could solve the problem real quick!

You're never too old to learn something stupid.

Getting a little heated on FB:

And you seem so polite here...

As long as there are people on this earth with the viewpoints expressed on the linked page, there will be jackasses like this kid. Again, until he runs into someone like many of us here.

Some punk rustling around my mom's house at night? You can bet I'd want him dead, or worse...

Re: The Kid Who Steals Planes

WTF!!! Damned you have some real freaking idiots on that FB page!!! Typical people thinking all plane owners are filthy rich. I would say 90% of the guys that I personally know ell that are plane owners are just scrapping by like most people. They just prefer to spend their money on planes versus other toys. I have a "friend" that always whines that I am so rich becasue I own a plane. I drive around with 15-20 year old vehicles yet he pulls around his $25K fishing boat with his $45K diesel truck. I try to tell him he spent more on his boat than I did on a plane...but his preception is still that I am rich just because I have a plane. Those stupid ass people on there can't do a little thinking for themselves to see what life is all about. Instead they sit at their computers and follow the other idiots in patronizing this little creep.
You seem to be talking to a brick wall with those people Zane.

Your spot on, WW! Some people I work with think I'm rich because I have a plane. Heck, even a couple of my family members and friends think the same. But I'm not!! Same as you mentioned, some of my friends have huge mortgages, motor homes, boats, ATV's, etc, etc...... Me, just a modest (price wise) home, same car since 1995, a used 2000 pickup I bought 2 years ago, a TW200, and my plane. I bought my plane for $60K 3 years ago. Almost about what a lot of people spend on cars, SUV's, and big ole pick up trucks.

In SoCal, I'm guessing about every other household has about $50K to over $100K worth of cars, SUV's, trucks and other toys setting in their driveways, garages and side yards.

Re: The Kid Who Steals Planes

Since the invention of the aircraft, it has been irrevocably associated with affluence and rich guys. That's an impression that's very difficult to change for the general public, as can be witnessed in the responses on that Facebook page. Apparently, we are The Man.

Re: The Kid Who Steals Planes

Those who haven't worked hard to get the things they have, don't appreciate the sense of pride that comes with carrying your own weight. They often feel like things should be redistributed from the haves to the have-nots, but as soon as they get something for free they waste or destroy it because it came too easy and they don't respect it.

Very well said!!

That's probably why I respect and care for my plane so well! I've worked so damn hard for what I have, and spend damn near every dime I make on the plane one way or another (after my mortgage).

I almost bet you, more than 90% of those sorry saps on that FB page are setting at home whining about not having this, not having that, not having a good paying job, and so on and so on. But, they have no problem with laying on the coach and playing video games all day.

Re: The Kid Who Steals Planes

There will always be people that cheer on the thieves. The average Joe likes to see other people "stick it to the Man", but especially in this age of economic upheaval. It's part of society and has been like that for centuries. Nothing new here. Let the Feds catch him.

(but if he steals from you, you have my permission to give him the Darwin Award).

Re: The Kid Who Steals Planes

I'd be rich if I didn't own a plane..I was once called a "Country Club Type" because I owned an airplane..go figure
Oh well, I guess I'll just fly around and pretend I'm really somebody.
Once told my older brother who likes to drive around in his 'Vette with his nose in the air.."Look up, I'll be flying over the top of you.
It's nice to be in a crowd where people have to look "Up" at you when you are having fun.
It sounds like this crowd kind'a earned the their "Wings" and we shouldn't have to apologize to anyone let alone some computer android geek!
