To Oregon: A Film About Friendship and Shared Passion

This is a short film about a trip that I took to Oregon. The purpose of this trip was to attend a memorial service for a friend who was killed in a mid air collision. This story is about friendship, flying, and how bonds are formed with otherwise complete strangers via the internet and a shared passion for Backcountry Aviation.

Great job! I used to live in Independence, OR and that video makes me miss flying the Willamette area. Coincidentally, when I first flew my PA-11 up to Oregon from NorCal, I stopped for fuel at Roseburg. Tom Weiss came over and introduced himself.....we chatted for awhile, talked about BCP.org, exchanged phone numbers and agreed that we would have to do some flying sometime. I said to my self, "what a great guy". I was very sad about the news, but it shows how someone can clearly make an impression, just from a 15 min conversation. I never had the pleasure of meeting Tyler, but I am sure he was the same. :( Anyways, I really enjoyed that video. Good work!

Dang, dude... nice storytelling and tribute. I'm glad we have guys like you who can capture these moments and articulate the meaning for posterity's sake. We need more of that.

Solid.

Very nice. I don't often watch entire videos, but this one is worth taking the time. Good job.

Thank you all for the compliments. This video was just part of my personal healing process.

I love short videos that tell a story. I haven't been able to devote the time that i need to (and want to) for making videos that i really want to make. I have many many hours of video from this last year of flying and visiting with my friends. It was good to finish this one. I hope it sheds light on what it is that we are all doing here and the draw to this type of recreational flying.

I could say that we should keep all this a secret and keep it to ourselves, but the diversity of the people here is what makes it so special.

As a person who has seeked out professional counseling following the tragedy on Oct 12th, 2014 I also want to say THANK YOU. I am still dealing with the loss of Tom and Tyler everyday. "It will never happen to me" is a harsh reality and something to never take for granted. Every takeoff could be your last.... God speed guys.
