On departure, I was on an SFRA flight plan and was joined by a departing G3. He accelerated and climbed faster than I did, but I had more fun!

Once underway, the cumulus clouds started building up, just as predicted.

After 3.5 hours of some minor weather dodging, I did make it to SC00. This place is AMAZING. The runway is 7,000' of BERMUDA GRASS! it is like landing on a golf green that is nearly a mile and a half long!

Once on the ground, I got parked and set up my tent. With the predicted thunderstorms, I chose to pitch my tent on the high ground behind my plane - N52GK

Even though attendance was down this year because of the bad weather predictions, there were LOTS of other amazing planes on the field.

The property owner's museum was open and his flying Spartan Executive was on display

There were lots of formation flybys

and the folks that arrived when the event opened on Thursday got some really nice camping areas:

There was a big catered dinner on the ridge above the runway

The view from the dinner area just got better as the evening progressed

But all good things come to an end. I had a more challenging flight home with fully developed thunderstorms in my way. Having NEXRAD weather on my tablet from ADSB-in was a big help.

And then I broke out for the last leg of my flight home

Nothing but good memories of the trip. A movie is being edited and will be posted soon. Moving away from such a magnificent flying destination will be hard, but I still think relocating to Washington State will be a great move overall...
