Twin Pine 2017

Twin Pine 2017 was last weekend, March 4th. Took way too many pics and have to start picking winners from the pile. Here's a few edited:

One of the bigger lakes in Minnesota. Hard to see the far shore due to the curvature of the earth.

I used to fly over it all the time flying between Boston and Seattle. Sure does look like fun! How was the wind and temp?

Re: Twin Pine 2017

G44, the weather wasn't bad, but too windy for me to fly. I live 100+ miles north and wanted to fly but I have my limits and that day was over my 'comfort' level. I don't think the winds were as bad south of me though.

Wind was steady out of the east about 12-15. Fun to watch the Bearhawk and Tern crawl in on the approach. 8)
Temps were probably high 20's. LOTS of coming and going so I never heard a full count, but it was a pretty good turnout.

Re: Twin Pine 2017

Thanks for taking some great pictures, especially of my plane. Where else can you see a Bonanza, 310, 172, Supercubs, and any other kind of airplane ever made land on a lake, pretty cool.

Re: Twin Pine 2017

I used to own that Tern! I had it recovered into the Blue and Yellow. Cub Crafters did the job for me in 1992. I really liked that airplane. I was wondering where it went. The Bearhawk sure is pretty!

Great pictures, sure does look like everyone had fun. Thanks for taking and posting the pictures.

Cool res the Tern! I can tell you it's in good hands. I see it around here now and then and it is very well flown. =D> 8)

G44, my name is Paul Christensen. I own your blue and yellow tern now, and operate it out of a small private strip my son and I built in Zimmerman, MN. Are you close? The plane was in Idaho for a long time, as was I, but I brought it back to MN when I moved back in 2011.

Really nice pics! Everything from twins and other retracts to Tri-pacers and most things in between. I especially liked the orange Globe Swift--I don't know anything about them, except I've always liked their looks.
