Uavionix AV30 and upgrades to a Cessna 170B

New upgrades to the Cessna 170B, Uavionix Av 30, new tailwheel bracket, field approval to put battery on the back, behind the extended baggage compartment. (get rid of ballast) and do a weight and balance.

1511 lbs, and CG is 41.98
Tires and seats alone are more than 100 pounds.
Plane performs real nice though.

I just saw this photo on a FB site,
EarthX battery mounted behind the extended baggage in a Franklin-powered C172TD.
Very clean installation.

31” bushwheel with heavy tread are 36# each. As a guess an 8.50-6 with tube is 12-15? Net weight gain for a pair is only 48#, or did I miss something?

I had one fully articulated seat and one of similar construction, square aluminum tube. I switched to sport aircraft seat upholstery on 57 172 seats, save 14 pounds on the pair.

I’d sure like to drop some weight off my plane, but I’ve heard bad things about lightweight starters, gear legs are really pricey, and I like the way my 401 pulls. I already have minimal interior.

Nice work, I like The look of the panel, the AV-30 keeps the look as well as reducing the weight for you, so thats good!!!

Two AV30's "in action".

It's not a well frame photo, there is an Ipad Mini to the right out of view along with two more EI instruments above the piano keys. All the flight instruments in view are digital with an "old school" presentation. The only mechanical instruments are an oil pressure & tach located above the glovebox which is still in its original position.

Who makes the ASI, VSI, and altimeter?
Don't think I've ever seen those before.

Perhaps a stupid question...How does one get non TSO gauges in a Cessna 170?

Is your 170 operated under the Owner Maintenance Category in Canada?

Very nice flat approach. Perfect landing. I'd say you got the hang of it. Well done Larry.
