Yeah, I've been getting it regularly on a PC, then yesterday, it popped up when I tried to post from an IPad. I pinged Zzz on it and he did some magic stuff.

So, this is a test to see if the fix works.......putting my tin foil hat on now.......

Our firewall thinks you're a hacker/bot/bad guy for some reason.

Anyone else see this ever? Periodically? Often?

Re: What is this new security before posting?

At first I just figured it was my computer or browser setting things off. It was only happening on a PC. Then it started happening on an I Pad too, only there, it wouldn't allow me to post, even if I entered the "magic password"....

Fixed now, Zane, so whatever you did worked.

Re: What is this new security before posting?

I see it occasionally on my PC. Not too often, maybe once a week.

Re: What is this new security before posting?

It's happened to me a number of times, most recently earlier today. No big deal, except sometimes it drops back to the "post" page deleting whatever I had typed. Very fucking annoying if it was kinda lengthy and you're a huntin' pecker kinda typist like I am. There is an ATTENTION! placard below the posting area that says "you should highlight and copy your text to the clipboard before submitting in case something goes wrong", but since I don't know notheeng about no steenking clipboard I don't do it. But I have lost some would-be posts...maybe it's a timing-out kind of thing? (damn computers, I hate em)

Re: What is this new security before posting?

We were getting hammered so hard by baddie traffic a couple weeks ago-- to the point that it would crash the server-- that I tightened up some of the firewall rules. I've relaxed them again today. Let me know if you still see the challenges.

Re: What is this new security before posting?

Sometimes just turning on the computer is a challenge....but thanks Zane.
Is there a sticky or post somewhere 'splaining this "clipboard" business?
FWIW the problem I've had with the site going back to the original "post" page (deleting what I'd so laboriously typed) when I click submit seems to happen (or more often anyway) when I use the "reply with quote" option.

Has started happening a lot in the last two week. But only when I am posting from work, which of course has some funny group IP with a whole pile of users on it...

The clipboard is the term for that special invisible place in memory where things go when you copy them (CTRL + C). It's what gets pasted when you CTRL + V.

Here's an illustration of the RAM required for the clipboard:

I see it every once in a while, but I'm logging in and posting from different points in Europe and the Pacific from time to time. Having said that, the last time I saw it was about 4 days ago on my iPad on my home network. **shrug**
