What is this new security before posting?
Have a problem with the website? Maybe you can find the answer here.
It's not new, it's been in place since the new website launched in June 2013. What is new is that some IP addresses are triggering the "challenge" part of the malicious traffic filter. Identifying hacking attempts uses a complex rule set to analyzes traffic, and I guess some false positives are happening.
I've set the challenge expiration to be one month, so if you do the CAPTCHA, your IP address should be good for a month if it's doesn't change.
Sorry for the hassle, everybody, but having our server hacked could mean the site will be down a while. This is a better alternative.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
I've gotten it regularly for the last couple of weeks, but it's not a problem--at least I can read what I'm supposed to type in! On other sites, I've had to push the refresh button several times before a captcha comes up that I can read.

When it came up, I figured it might be a nasty trying to trick me into clicking on it and so I'd leave - sometimes do a fresh security scan. Eventually did the CAPTCHA but my post didn't post and I had other things to get to. Would've been nice to know it was legitimate, I thought about reaching out but I didn't want to be bothering you with all on your plate lately!

The clipboard is the term for that special invisible place in memory where things go when you copy them (CTRL + C). It's what gets pasted when you CTRL + V.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

How would you then retrieve / repost from that "special invisible place".

Cessna Skywagon -- accept no substitute!
It's usually a "one sheet clip," meaning that if you copy something you can paste it all day long (either via right clicks or ctrl+c to copy and ctrl+v to paste) until you copy something else. Then that new thing is all that's kept in the clipboard.
There are some exceptions, but this is how most clipboards work.
