More and more pilot meetings I go are full of old farts complaining about their health, so a little healthier eating can keep the grim reaper a little further back in the rear view mirror.

Definitely a different approach than most aviation enthusiasts. She is adressing issues that are of concern.

Today's lunch/last night's dinner: paleo meatloaf, green beans, and mashed sweet potatoes.

My wife is amazing.

I married a Mennonite lady, and she lives up to the saying "Mennonite girls can cook!". Fortunately, or unfortunately, my metabolism is crazy and i can gain a pound over 150.

Eating all that health shit may not make you live longer but it'll sure seem like it.

I believe my first issue is the amount of food. I am a comfort eater. Eating tons of food makes me relaxed. It is a habit that is hard to break. I would eat an XXL pizza, ice cream and a pie for desert. That will kill me slowly and I have been obstaining. It is working.

I hear you. I'm pretty sure it's live on cereal and sandwiches if we hadn't gotten married!

Here's the recipe: http://www.lifemadefull.com/2013/11/10/paleo-meatloaf/

Glad you forwarded the info!

If being a beach bum pilot/A&P doesn't work then I may try cooking! I looked at some frozen dinner meat loaf (AKA "TV" dinners) in the market today. It just did not seem the same as home cooked. Almost bought it but, something said "wait for some home cooked". It may be a long while....

Not lunch yet but I was running a little behind and asked my wife to throw my breakfast in a Tupperware.

She's the best :)

I can hear those arteries hardening! For me this morning it was cereal, sprinkled with dates and raspberries, topped off with almond milk. Sounds healthy doesn't it. Well you ain't seen my lunch yet. Aloha!

Phil, here's some reading and a video for you. I'm not a fan of the overt animation of the video but I think it makes the minority opinion against the Lipid Hypothesis. It's a clip from a longer video.

If you can't tell, I support the minority opinion :)

not on a specific diet here, but I am fairly well convinced that sugar and other refined carbs (white flour, white rice, etc.) are killing us as a society and am trying to limit my intake of them. Still eat them, but really trying to dial it down.

I believe you. "Modern living" and the need to feed 7,000,000,000 people has comprised the quality. Constructing food with high calories that is easily transported is the priority if most people want to survive.

Bringing on the road also decreases the general available food products to me too.

Thanks for your input, it's real.

Lunch today is probably similar to everyone else's... Leftovers from yesterday!

Re: What's in your lunch box? Diet and Pilots?

CaptMike and I had met up at the Ala Wa Harbor. He was flying a 767 (First Officer) to Narita and was staying near by for the night.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at a little restaurant across from the Harbor. The wind was too strong and gusty to go sailing and it was too dark to surf. So, I asked questions about flying for a few hours and learned a lot!

Thank you CaptMike it was an honor to have you onboard last night! Amazing guy!

Good deal. We have leftovers from my Sister in law's feast. Ate too much and had heartburn later that night, it was worth it ...best food in a long time.

My fault..

Been eating so much food. As mentioned earlier, I have a tendency to be a "comfort eater".
