Why do you want to know which browser we are using? Doesn't your software need to work on all of them?

Yes, the core software that pulls the information from the database and stores your posts, etc, works fine in all the browsers. It's the markup code (HTML and CSS) that determine the appearance. Not all web browsers display the same code exactly the same way. It's close but not perfect. For instance, in IE 6, the "BackcountryPilot.org" in the upper left doesn't even show up. That's one of the challenges for web designers: To make it looks right in every browser.

This isn't so critical now, but it will be in the next version of the website.

Thanks for the votes.

Re: What web browser are you using?

Thanks for the explanation. In addition, I found it interesting which browsers people on this site are using. While I really like Firefox, I had assumed that most people would still be wedded to IE. As time goes by, it will be interesting to see what inroads that Chrome makes after Google gets it out of the Beta phase.

I think that we are all quite interested in the final roll-out of your new Backcountry software.

Keep up the good work.

Re: What web browser are you using?

Actually Chrome is out of beta and the official release is working great though not nearly as feature-rich as Firefox. Which, was kind of the point with Chrome, keep it light and fast even compared to Mozilla/Firefox.

Many of us are using Chrome beta and developer channels to access newer features not yet available in the official version. Mainly, I still like a few simple extensions and I don't believe extensions are available yet in the official release.

Re: What web browser are you using?

I have to cast a new vote for Chrome. I've been using it exclusively for the last week and I'm pretty impressed. It's got a much smaller memory footprint than Firefox, at least on the Mac. Like O&Ftr said, it's not as feature packed, but I think that's what contributes to its speed. I mostly love that it renders code properly.

Give it a try: http://www.google.com/chrome

Re: What web browser are you using?

Since everything we send out the door runs on Linux and was Unix before that (SGI), we have been loading Firefox for next to ever.

I ran Opera for awhile but had issues with how it rendered some of the Billyware developed web pages.

If I could rip IE out of my windows systems, it would happen tonight.

Oh, so you're finally off NCSA Mosaic? ;)

Geez, lot of CS guys around here. Yesterday Kevbert claimed his favorite tool is gcc 4.4!

If I like Chrome better, is there a way to import all my bookmarks from Safari 4.0.5 ?

Also, is this one of those Google conspiracy-world-dominance things where they collect your browsing data and then beam commercial impulses to you subliminally while you sleep?

What's really cool to me... the computer dunce... is that Chrome will automatically sync my droid phone and work and home computers, as far as calendars, bookmarks and contacts...
