I am in the process of buying a scout and don’t really find much info and feed back on here about them. I looked at husky and scout and have decided to go with a scout due to leg room.

The Maule is more fun though

I felt the same way when I got mine in Feb 2020, so I started a thread. Starts with some mods then later in the thread I took it to Alaska for 3 months for work and had a blast.

I actually found that thread in the search function. So why did you trade to a Maule?

Are you aware of the heel pan mod for the Husky which gives a lot more leg room? If not look into it, good mod for longer leg pilots.

Boy you really traded up there didnt ya! If you keep at it you may be able to get a 180 someday.

Inside track on a Scout that hasn’t hit the market yet. Lots going for it, this guys put a lot into it. Super special. It will Go places, Big places! Located here in Montana.

I'm a Scout guy. I've owned my 2006 for six years now. It is a great airplane. Very comfortable big cabin, great heater and easy(relatively) to get in and out. Very stable. My brother had a 200 hp Husky. The Husky was a little faster and amazingly fuel efficient. Pretty similar take off and landings. I would give Husky the edge on cargo. Anyway my airplane's abilities exceed mine by a long shot.

Even though Aviat is our sponsor here, I do enjoy flying a Scout. They are comfortable and predictable and I like the aesthetics.

Anyone know if there's a seaplane door STC for the 8GCBC? or even better...a factory option?

I towed sailplanes as a young pilot with a Scout and it's a very capable rig. As tube & fabric airplanes go I think they offer very good value and performance for the dollar, its where I'd put my money.

Definitely like the Scout. A friend has one and it is a very capable plane with a pilot that knows it. I was extremely interested in one but the weight was more than I want to handle on the ground. With the big tanks filled (70 gallons I think), even on pavement, it's beast to move around for a guy my size. The spacious interior is what I like, and I'm not a big guy.

There's a host of them around here.

Scouts look burly, like they mean business and ready to take it on.

Scouts are great. I often feel that them and their little brother the 7GCBC are very under rated. Parts are very easy to aquire, great service from the factory, comfortable, roomy, great Heaters. One of my favorite aircraft.

I would probably have looked much harder at the 7GCBC if it had more useful load.

Why did ASA ditch his Scout for the Maule?
