Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Blue sky all of a sudden in Scotland, so out for a gentle flight with landing sites chosen in deference to the Condor's skinny tires:

stopped by a cubaholic neighbour's field for a natter:

then down to the seaside:

then wash sand off wheels in the river Nith and head back to the tractor shed:

...and today (nothing to do with off-airport flying) on my way down to London at FL70, the Red Arrows were practising their formation aeros. Nice to see our taxes being put to proper use:

N-Jacko,

You may check and see if your Google album is restricted to private viewing only. Changing to public may fix the problem.

Sorry about that, I think I've cured it, but not sure. I couldn't find that setting in Google drive, but might have fixed it in Picasa web... #-o

Anyway, happy Thanksgiving to all, with or without Jacko's photos!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Beautiful calm cool clear skies in Washington today. I decided to do some practice on a friends 1,000 foot strip in a shollow canyon on the Columbia. With low density altitude I felt like I has a 235 and climbout was a breeze! Wish it was always like that.

Then over to a friends farm. His strip is about 2,000 by 20 or so, but a little challenging due to the rolling hills it is on. Clear approach and departure and nothing to hit on either side makes it fun and easy.

Then over to Desert Air. They have 1,000 of turf there next to the runway. I landed a few there and headed to Cashmere, in the Washington Cascades. From there borrowed the airport van for a drive to Leavenworth.

Tammy had a sinus infection and my other friends either had family stuff, work, or were out of town so this was a solo day.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Took my new Step Grandsons for their first airplane ride in the 180. Put an hour on the champ giving rides. 65 degrees in south central Pennsylvania. Took a walk down my runway and my wife picked dandilinons on black Friday. FUN

Re: Where did you fly today?

Not sure the gear conversion stc? But it did have the io-360 Lyc, MT Prop, VG's, Bushwheels, new utility interior with leather OA style seats and canvas jump seats in back. Really a sweet ride!
(Andy wanted to drag race him with his Franklin 170B. :)

Nice plane. The single-puck brakes seem under-gunned on those tires. Perhaps it spends most of its life on floats? Stoots engine conversion?

Re: Where did you fly today?

Finally a break in the Wx after six days. Was great to get off the Earth. Grabbed the SQ2 and hit the usual spots. Saw about a hundred Aoudad and a couple of bald eagles. Stopped in at Llano for fuel where a friend happened by and asked if I'd come land is ranch. Sacrifice, sacrifice, all I do is sacrifice.

Stole my buddies SQ today and spent some time goofing off. What an airplane. This slow flying stuff is pretty cool. Sure has been cold. -4 F this morning
