Where did you fly today?
Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

That appears to be Los Tranches in CA. Should be in the RAF Airfield Guide.

Yes. It's Las Trancas. It's managed by the RAF and there's a mandatory briefing and agreement you can access on the RAF.org site. It's a spectacular spot, and a great example of how the RAF preserves and maintains access.

Gorgeous! What do you think are the chances there will still be ice in Back Bay at the end of April? I’m told it’s normally broke up or at least under water by the docks then but this feels like a later spring than normal.

Thanks. Re landing at back bay - Not impossible, but optimistic - right now, the ice road to Dettah is still open, and it was a real winter, so the ice is thick and likely to last well into May on most of the Bay, but Back Bay is pretty shallow, so the shore leads always open up early there. Best indicator will be when Tindi takes their Twin Otters off the ice...

Sounds good. I expect to be coming through there the first week of May in a PA-12 on wheel skis and would prefer to land where there is fuel but I'm told its no real big deal to get it delivered to YZF.

Lovely day, calm, sunny. Still lots of snow on the river.

That's interesting, it stopped the propeller dead on some of those pics, and made one a swoop! Prop was spinning at around 2400 RPM.
