HEEEELLLLLOOOOO Bran Muffin's!!!!!!
With a side of shredded wheat and prunes!
With the decrease in empty weight after one like that I might have a chance of winning the STOL competition.

Track My Spot

Wow, this thread has really regressed from the early pages of actual information about Scouts into something more resembling a food fight at an elementary school cafeteria. I think it's safe to assume Idaho Supercub believes strongly in Super Cubs and will not be swayed.

I thought it was bad that everyone just wanted to have type war threads, but this is a whole new level. It sounds like some mean spirited PMs have been exchanged, and that's far from the spirit of our forum. Flagrantly mean and inflammatory private messaging will get you banned.

There will not be a STOL contest at Johnson Creek the weekend of our fly-in. With Berk crashing last year, that is as close as I want to come to any association with liability for participants. Our fly-in is informal, and so I realize I can't mandate what anyone does, but if you like our site and you like me, play it as safe as possible. The day I get sued for organizing an event where someone gets hurt is the end of BCP.

If you feel that the fly-in is a place to prove something about your abilities or your aircraft, do not attend. It is purely a social event.

Sorry for the serious face.

Fuckin-A...

A buddy and I did a touch and go at Johnson Creek a while ago in a CJ-2 (within the last 2 years). We landed shorter than any of you Hosers could dream of, and I guarantee you that our rate of climb out of there will never be matched. So don't worry about it, and bring beer instead.

Damn it Gump,

I was just out thinking about cutting half the tubes, removing two tanks,
throwing away the charging system and starter, replacing the constant speed with a fixed pitch.

Just to find out you already won :!:

I guess I will go out and shut the heater off no sense in doing now. :)

Sorry Floyd...

it was no wind and slighty down hill, but pic do not do it justace. ya just need to note, that it does not take 700 ft for a super scout to sour with the eagles. Fluffy needs to bark like a dog and quite crying like a pus cat. let see some comparisons in stead of pics from 42000 ft sucking on ox, and eating twinkies.o ya that would be co pilot fluffy not captin. just keep siting back and let the real dogs fly!!!

Windy?

I think he meant from a propwash standpoint.........it was into the wind.

I do some of that flying in a Super Cub and I was still impressed.

What I can't figure out is if a Scout is so fast why do some Scout owners always show up just in time for breakfast AFTER the work is done at the airsrtip work parties?

I think I'd like a Scout to go in the hangar with the 180.

If you're not scarin' yourself, you're not scarin' the crowd!

Do Supercubs REALLY land that short? Is it just some of the wankers that fly them blowing themselves up even further?

The last one I flew, (heavy one had a full panel and everything that opens and shuts just like every bush machine should have, NOT) a well flown light 172 would have used the same distance. Do you have to have gigantic huge wheels with extended everything to land on a dirt strip?

With SC's and Maules costing double or triple the price of simmilar performing Aircraft and if you have to pay as much as what SC's are asking (Not worth) why not go for a bit more and get the ultimate stol performer a Jetranger? Or if money seems no object like some of the "Bells and whistles" folks then maybe a Huey?

How much accumulated distance would a SC take to get a decent load off say a ton? That would be maybe 4 take offs of maybe 200 metres? A Beaver (only just dearer than inflated SC prices at todays rates) could cart a ton off in maybe 400 metres? Do Beaver pilots have pissing contests like the SC and Maule bunch seem to have all the time?

Lets hear some structuered well thought out defence of what seems to be standard Maule/SC "I'm betterer than you folks cause I got big wheels" type of mentality. :D Any takers?
