As do the coyotes in Mineral County Nevada when they hear the mighty roar of the O-300 balls to the wall at 5 ft AGL !!! They like to bite at the tires.

Unfortunately in the Anchorage area they can't use Supercubs to control the wolves. So the wolves are starting to get more aggressive. Here is an article that is in today's Anchorage newspaper about how the wolves are going after pet dogs in the vicinity. It also briefly describes the event when a young woman was killed in Chignik by wolves earlier this year:

http://www.adn.com/2010/11/07/1542141/b ... erves.html

We get a lot of wolves (and Coyotes) out here in the Wrangell mountains and the wolves do occasionally pray on local dogs. We have a neighbor about two miles away with a "dog lot." They will sometimes howl and bark especially around feeding time, but will immediately go silent if a wolf howls near by. They have lost at least two of their members to the wolves. Generally, it appears to be a single wolf that will entice a dog away from its homestead and then turn on it. My neighbor says that the bite strength of the wolf's jaws was strong enough to pierce his dogs skull in one event.

The picture looks like a young wolf. Right color for a coyote, but the latter half of the body has the fullness of a wolf.

Re: Wolf at Schafer

Knowing that we are an outdoors type here, I'm sure we have a lot of active hunters on the forum.
Just like putting av gas in my tanks, I complain about the rising cost of hunting licenses and tags and wonder if it is going towards the right cause.
I haven't spent any time to confirm this........but WTFO!
