I don't appreciate being labeled a liar in the public forum. [-X
At a few minutes before 8 am Mountain time Monday morning I replied to a pending offer to buy the tires from the first of the other buyers. At the same price that I had offered them to you. No one offered more and I would not have sold them for more. The idea was to pass along the good deal that I got on my new tires.
At 8 am I left for work as I do most mornings. I did not see your response until later that day.
I let you know the situation immediately and posted that the sale was pending.
I waited more than 3 days for your reply before I let them go. I had no way of knowing that you would post a request for tires and then not be available to respond to offers for days. All of the other buyers said that they would take them if you didn't. They did not try to buy them out from under you. The majority of the BCPers that I have met or dealt with are decent honest guys and would not try to snake you out of a deal.

As usual, no good deed goes unpunished.

If no one was trying to get around me then why didn’t they add to my post and call seconds? Why didn’t you respond with your intent on my post after offering them to me? I have no way of proving one way or the other. If I have wronged you I sincerely apologize.

I don't see where you did anything wrong. After 3 days of no response from the OP, I woulda done the same thing. "Ya snooze, ya lose" applies to this situation.

Sorry, Joe. I have to agree with others here. If you're hot to get some used gear, you are expected to respond in a timely fashion to any replies. It's not fair to ask people to ignore other interested parties for more than 3 days.

That said, there is a practical code of conduct expected of sellers and buyers that we should try to aspire to, but I'm not going to attempt to put it into any kind of policy here. Golden Rule and dibs and good communication and all. If you're another buyer who also wants what the OP want, expect to be second in line and wait for them to turn it down within a reasonable window of time.

The best way to avoid these problems is to just order the items new.

Re: WTB 2-8X6:00 and 1-7X6:00 Tires and tubes

I really want to let this thing go, and once again I apologize for stepping over the line. I was a bit more than a little pissed off. Selling them after three days was never an issue with me, hell, retracting an offer at any time wouldn’t bother me, it’s your stuff, a friend may need them, been there, done that. Except canceling the sale 8 hours AFTER I said that I wanted them, and then saying that at least three others contacted him almost immediately after he posted the offer, that pissed me off, then saying that he had waited three days, but did not post a sale pending till 8 hours later in the day AFTER I said that I wanted them. So I walked around for a day with a grin on my face only to find that he sold them to someone else, that morning, but did not bother to retract his offer till later that afternoon. It’s obvious to me that ANYONE contacting someone via a PM that’s offering a good deal on my post is working the back door, it worked. I wish I had seen the offer sooner but generally I’m away from my computer from Thur. evening till Mon. morning. I accepted his offer and requested shipping costs @ 7:14 am the retraction was @ 3:38 PM. The same day. If you’re going to sell to someone else have the courtesy to retract your offer, then commit to someone else, if you want in on a deal add to the post don’t contact the seller via PM and work the back door! And Sirs THAT IS what pissed me off! Not that he sold to someone else after three days, but how it was done! If you can’t understand where I’m coming from on this than there is no use trying to explaining it any further. Have a great week, fly safe, planning on seeing many of you at JC. 172Heavy :D

Re: WTB 2-8X6:00 and 1-7X6:00 Tires and tubes

Ok so what should I have done?
Thursday night I make the offer to sell them to you.
Friday night, no reply, Saturday night no reply, Sunday night no reply.
Meanwhile 3 others offer to buy them IF, you don't want them. No increased bids or coercion.
Monday morning I offer them to the first interested buyer at the stated price.
I am away from my computer for 8 hours at work and get your reply when I get home.
I reply that they are already sold and post the same on the thread.
I was trying to help you out but it seemed to me that you weren't interested so I let them go to someone who was.

I will contact the person who is sending me a check to see if he won't be so pissed if I send them to you instead.

Sheesh. I won't be selling anything here again.

Re: WTB 2-8X6:00 and 1-7X6:00 Tires and tubes

What I would have done if I were you,
1. After offering them to me and no reply I would have sent a PM and asked if I was planning on taking the deal. At that point you would know that I was not there and not ignoring your offer.
2. Keep it up front. Asked others interested to post (second in the pattern) if I did not buy them. Personally, I view anyone PMing you rather keeping it on the post as using the back door to get something that they want without being seen, so tell me, did the other buyer have any influence on your decision or need to sell after three days, Monday morning first thing ? It’s not uncommon for any of us to be away from our computers for the week end, that’s what we do.
3. If I felt the need to sell within a given period of time (3 days) I would have stated so on the post.
4. One thing that I would never do is sell to another party without retracting my previous offer first.

This whole deal has left me twisted, had our deal gone through, as it should have, I would have felt grateful and a level of friendship towards you as it stands now, I would feel as if I tore them from you or beat you up to get them, I don’t want that, so I think it’s best to just forget about this.

This has gotten a little too serious. No one has been cheated of any money or property, but now you might see why I make people accept a terms of use for buying/selling stuff here.

Thread locked.
