WTB: Maule M-7-235

Looking for a 1996 or newer M-7-235 with oleo style gear (B model).

I try to check the listing sites daily so i’m usually aware of what’s publicly available. Ideally there’s an unlisted private sale to be found.

Thanks.

Send it! Isn't it about to get too cold to fly where you are? Mine, and sounds like most, are not very airtight!

The spring gear models seem plentiful compared to the oleo gear “B” models, which is what i’m seeking.

I'm told the fun is in the hunt, not the find

I was wondering how your hunt for a plane has been going! You might just have to get one of your projects off the back burner. I've been slowly getting a couple of mine done. Getting to the age where time to work on them is slowly dwindling.

I got my M7 engine overhaul done. Almost 1 year to the day. My boy and I pulled it and trucked it to Oregon from Arizona. March 2025. Then a year later we trucked it back to Arizona and put it all back together. It is running great. I have 30 hours on it now. $55,000

Zane, I assume you want the Lycoming 540?

So this would be your second overhaul for your Maule? I vaguely remember reading you had to overhaul it not long after your initial purchase because it had low hours and was not run much. Like 10 years ago?

Zane, sorry to hijack your thread.

ZPilot. Holy cow, good memory. It was 15 years ago and 1497 hours. The Lyc 540 ate the exact same intake cam lobe as it did 15 years ago.

I flew it every week, 100 hours a year, oil changed at 25-30 hours. I ran Aero Shell Plus. I incorrectly thought that is Shells version of Cam Guard. It is NOT! It is an anti-scuff additive. That is different than Anti-corrosion which is what Cam Guard is.

We live in a damp area, NW Oregon. I will park the M7 outside when I am at the Coast. Hangered at home. The engine shop said the engine looked great except for the 1 cam lobe.

I am now going to run Cam Guard religiously. I also bought the Dry Bot to keep the engine filled with dry air.

The engine shop said that's all that can be done.

Cam Guard makes oil sticky. I don’t believe it has any other material in it to achieve anti-corrosion properties. Feel your oil between your fingers before you add it to your engine and compare it after adding Cam Guard. Good stuff.
