I've always thought this sort of thing was stupid. However, it has fairly recently hit pretty close to home, and now it REALLY grates on my nerves!

Re: Yet another bogus crash suite

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/10/ ... 0B20151020

"The National Transportation Safety Board ruled the cause of the accident as a loss of engine power due to fuel starvation because of a blocked fuel line.

The blocked fuel line was caused, the NTSB said, by the pilot's "improper maintenance practices and the pilot's subsequent failure to maintain adequate airspeed while attempting a forced landing."

So, sue the builder. Oh wait he's family, dead and doesn't have 35 million dollars.

It's a shame that Vans will have to spend a dime defending themselves. The judge should throw it out.

Re: Yet another bogus crash suite

I knew the pilot personally he was my T-hangar neighbor, KONP. He killed her.

Really interesting dude. The aircraft was scary, backfired every Flight! But, he still flew it, probably very lean due to starvation.

Now we all pay? F$&%# That!

It may be helpful for you to offer your testimony on the perceived condition of the aircraft.

Re: Yet another bogus crash suite

I'd like to see there face when they find out that they can't sue Van's for liability,
And i doubt that Vans will settle out of court if that's what they really want not the $35M.

I'm sorry for Van's and FloScan having to deal with this full of bull lawsuit.

I'm sorry for the family's loss but that's it!

Maybe Van's should counter against the family for wrongful death by allowing her to fly with him! Just say this is how stupid it is!

Re: Yet another bogus crash suite

"The suit claims that homebuilt airplanes pose a danger to riders because they aren't held to the same safety standards as other professionally built planes."

Their angle is a favourite of lawyers, a confusing and sneaky argument. The above is obvious, I mean - the authorities make you placard the aircraft with pretty much that very statement!!

How they plan to make that Vans fault, I have no idea.

"Underhanded tactics, fuelled by greed and an undue sense of entitlement..."

This is all cost Vans will be forced to pass onto their customers, one way or another. The defence money has to come from somewhere.
