If you don't like a video or action in one, then start your own safety thread. There's a reason this website isn't called fly2pavedairports.com Many if not most aviators/airplane owners would not consider off airport operations to be a safe or sensible pass time. This community is supposed to be a place for like minded individuals to discuss things like landing off airport, which would draw ridicule in other aviation environments. Posting off topic comments dilutes quality content, and the derisive overtones make people not want to post. I enjoy this forum with the idea that those involved in the activities promoted within accept a higher level of risk associated with said activities. If you don't like the risk don't do it yourself, and if you're not smart enough to understand that risk someone's random warning probably won't get through anyway. My 2cents, take it or leave it.

Oh, man... Where is that LIKE button? Thoughtful, well articulated, and classy response.

Not in the least bit, and if my post above intimated as such, I apologize. Anyone who has been on this forum for a reasonable amount of time has watched you work through the ratings and certificates, wring out multiple aircraft, and dedicate a tremendous amount of time and effort to help others enjoy the pursuit of this disease we all share. Your dedication and efforts are quite well documented... good on you.

The intended target of my post was this guy; because inevitably he does exist, in fact I'd wager we have all been that guy at some point or another...

Mr. Ghost,

While I'm sure you don't care for my posts, I will just offer that I hope social skills are more challenged than your flying skills. At 5 posts into this forum, you sir are not qualified to suggest who is a keyboard quarterback and who is not.... Carry on

JP, while I generally like and agree with WA's well thought out post, I respectfully submit that a conversation that does not meander fluidly is not a conversation, it is a want add

Take care, Rob

Re: You can only have one...

Okay, I'll bite on the "which one" question. My suggestion would be neither. You're saying you want something lighter and more nimble than the 180. The Carbon Cub EX will do that, but it's still pretty limited. Limited to 1800 pounds, or at least that's the recommendation of the manufacturer. And, it seems the majority of Carbon Cubs wind up weighing around 1000 pounds.

If twer me, and I was looking for light, nimble, and good performer, I'd be going with a true Super Cub clone, probably from one of the kits that Javron makes. Look at Bill Rusk's build thread on SC.org. That airplane came in at under 1100 pounds on big tires, and well equipped.

So, what's the difference: The Javron will have the legal useful load well above the CC airplane. It will also be structurally substantially stronger, with well proven components which have been around for many decades.

With a strong engine, performance should be the same, since airfoil is the same and weight would also be the same or close.

And, the Javron build might be cheaper.

Maybe.

Kevin, I don't have a dog in this fight, so to speak, and nothing intended toward anyone in this thread. Your question phrasing just brought a movie scene to mind, however, and I had to post the below.
If you've seen Tropic Thunder, you'll likely laugh out loud.

Not an SQ2

Don't know much about many of em.
Only 1? Not possible to beat the 180 for all around. Period. If you could. I'd have that.
Flown the CC and the sq.
CC fun and severely capable of all fun flying in our realm of flying. Assuming we like the same kind of flying and think we do.
The sq I flew, flew like a turd.
My buddy was mislead heavily by a well known and "renowned" sq pilot.
It has since been much improved apparently but I have not flown it again and don't miss it.
I'm sure some are good for certain things.
But in my majority humble opinion it is a specific use plane that I would have no need for.
Phils is the best flying one I've seen by far. That one I'd fly. (;
If I could have 2...(sorry) it'd be a 180 and a sweet super cub or a CC.
Just be hard to fly a CC now for the same reason I don't ride a Harley anymore. Lol.
Hi guys.
