. I'm a "prior planning prevents poor performance" kinda guy so...We'll be taking the humble Pacer and a Super Cub. One pilot and no passengers in each plane. There's room for about 20 gallons of spare fuel to share between the two planes so we can get off the beaten path a bit. The planes are equipped with 26" tires and pilots that know how to use 'em. We'll have all the usual gear; sat trackers, camping gear, sat phone, survival gear, the "bare" essentials, tools and spares; and, like the 26" tires, we know how to use the stuff.
I'm looking for suggestions for good places to go. Atlin, Whitehorse, and Dawson are on the list but what we're really interested in are the more remote strips/gravel bars to camp on...preferably with fishing not too far away. Strips and or gravel bars near old mine sites are also very desirable! We're looking to "live off grid" for most of the time with one or two nights in a hotel to shower up...when the smell starts to offend even us
We'll be launching out of either Prince George or Anahim Lake BC with two weeks planned to "git 'er done". Our route to the Yukon will be through Smithers, Bob Quinn, Dease Lake and Atlin. From there we have no specific plans. We have not set a date but sometime between late June and early September depending on what we can learn about the weather and bugs in the area at that time.
So...any input from the vast knowledge that exists in this community is welcome!
Oh ya...and if anyone is willing sell me a WAC D-12 Chart I'd be happy to pay a fair price! They don't print them anymore and I find them to be excellent for planning such trips!
Thanks Folks! I look forward to the bad influence you guys can provide me with
