My logbook ticked over the 1,000 hour mark this summer. While I know this still puts me firmly in noob territory compared to most on here, it still felt substantial to me as a weekend warrior private pilot.
Once I started looking back through some old pictures I was pretty amazed at all the adventures we've had that have been made possible by flying. Being able to share most of those adventures with our kids has been one of the highlights of my life.
My aviation life started at age 5 when my dad and I built a Goldberg Falcon 56 model airplane together. At age 29 I had the chance to start working on my pilot's license. Since then, We've flown pretty much all over the lower 48 and up to Alaska. Hopefully, the next 1,000 hours will be just as fun!
I put together this little video. Forgive me if It's a bit self-indulgent to post this here, but I thought there might be some folks just starting out -- either with flying or with starting a family -- who might be inspired by it. I've gotten to know some great people along the way, so there are also some cameos by Blackrock, Highroad, Zane, Alex, and others. I'm sure you'll also recognize many of the places.
