Well I think that I'll probably head down your way first and say hi then head out east and see if I can find the people headed back from breakfast.

Head for TSO and monitor 123.45. You should pick us up along the way.

I think I'm in for next weekend in some sorta' Cessna nosedragger product. I think. Only 'cause I may get to meet Bushy and also steal some of Greg's aircraft ideas for the plane I may never build. :P Gotta go find me some charts...

That's right, John, Hanna-Barbarian en-route. Sometime mid-afternoon at your field in a 152 rocket. White w/blue stripes.... #-o Hey, it runs and flies itself, right ? Should be a good time. Anything I can do to help while I'm there, let me know.

Well gentlemen. There is a buzz in the air. There were three of them today in fact doing intel-work on Graham's landing strip puzzles that riddle the hills of eastern Ohio. Today I spotted Graham himself painting 100ft dash marks down his runway for spot landing exercises. There is a circus tent set up to protect bushy from the rain and lots of firewood.

Yeah Hannatime! Bring that beast. We already figured out how to get a 152 out of the homestrip, so that shouldn't be a problem!

See you soon.

Just checked the extended forecast. Looks like weather is Crysal from here to OH82 friday to sunday, 71 for a high ! Yesss! =D> Greg, if you're talking about Swingle strip, that may take a stol kit and a generous shot of nitrous on the 'ol 1-5-2. I saw that winter video  #-o [-o<

Re: 2011 Graham Fly-In :: Come hear tall tales from Bushy.

I have had a couple of people ask questions and I see that maybe I need to clarify what kind of fly-in this is.

It is just an ordinary grass strip fly-in that anyone can handle. When we fly out to eat or camp, once again just about any airplane can get in to those places ok.

There is a small “core group” that may go off and play at harder strips and come back and tell lies around the campfire about how good they were.

While at my place (Graham Field), we will have trucks and jeeps to haul whoever wants to go up on the hills and watch or take pictures of that core group doing their thing. So you can witness all this while you are not risking yourself or airplane.

Come, bring your tie downs and have some fun!

If you are going to join up on the way in;

Friday dinner is at a 1800 foot grass strip at Butler, OH. (40 miles north of here).
40-35.716 / 82-25.663.

Saturday breakfast, same as last year, Carroll Co (TSO) is 60 miles east of here:
40-33.712 / 81-04.649.

and 123.45 should "hook you up" while in the air headed for those places, but switch to 122.9 at Graham Field (OH82).

Graham Field is 2600 feet long east/west rwy and has sand and gravel underneath the grass, so it never gets too soft after rains.

trock...not yet. I think Oct 3 is the first sell date for Ohio. My wife brought two cases back from Pittsburgh Sunday though. Someone else was going to bring some too.

Yo kids, old farts, and even you middle aged weenies gone gray and bald way before your time (like me)...
Save some imports for me!

Word on the street is that Matco Mfg is headed our way to shower us with SWAG, a table load of tailwheels, stickers and tattoos. I'm going to bring a couple of my favs to demo...wheels that is. To celebrate I bled my brakes and hooked up my rudder chains. -Whole different plane. Not that you'll need brakes on these hills, but they're nice to have sometimes. After the hills a normal, level landing seems to drag on forever. and ever.

Also there will be a table set up with high altitude airplanes all under $35K...just kidding. bad forum joke.

In other Fly-In hype, our great American Smokin' Smith Shootout is ready for action Saturday. It's gonna be the biggest blow-out yet!

It's a 12 minute flight to a 1,000 strip with mediocre approaches. Once there the payout will include serious Motorcross demonstrations mixed with explosives and [legal] weapons of mass destruction. It's an alternative to "The Organ" which showcased last year's event.

That's all i can think of right now. Nighty night.

Early arrivals were a scout, a cessna 150, and three super cubs. A beautiful afternoon, some hill side action ending with a Prime Rib dinner.

John;

How about an update on the weekend at OH82? Had planned to fly down today with a friend from Marion, but the rain, 800 ft ceiling and 30 MPH winds kept the Maule grounded. See if tomorrow looks better and may be able to make the trip.

Gene - our weather has pretty much sucked, but today the rains are forecasted to hold off until after 4:00 PM and winds peaking at 12 mph.

We have 6-7 super cubs, a maule, three scouts, a C180, two luscombs , a champ, a rans s7, and a tri pacer that came from OK, GA, NY, NH, TN, and a couple CA guys who smoked their way here. These guys all "worked" to get here.

Still a good time. Next week's wx in WV looks good - so far.

I bailed too 200' ceilings going over the hills in Somerset. Maybe I'll be able to get down to Tennessee.

Nick,

I sat at the hanger yesterday for about 6 hours with the guys. Wx was bad. I went down to the airfield and was hoping for a couple laps around the pattern today, but couldn't due to the low ceiling. So I cleaned bugs off and put the float charger on.

I was wondering if you made the attempt to get out and I have to admit I was a little jealous just thinking you did. This Wx has been very bad and I am sorry I missed this event as Oki was going to go along. :( My next big fly out is the ice runway. :D
Take care,

Re: 2011 Graham Fly-In :: Come hear tall tales from Bushy.

I was able to attend Grahams today. Early morning flying weather was good and many airplanes flying. About noon the winds were up and clouds were moving in. I left at 1:00 and had a bumpy, slow ride home to De Graff. Landed with a 14 knot crosswind under clear sky and nice temps. Probably made my best and shortest landing in years and nobody to witness it.

Thanks John and all your helpers for a great day. Sorry I could not make it on Saturday, but weather dictated otherwise. Sorry the easterners weren't able to make the trip. Maules had a good turnout with 3 of us there today.
