Holy Sh$# man! Great find! =D>

Gets me so fired up for the races coming up. Watching those gives me the chills. Man if I could only fly one of those planes...

Anyone know of camping availability in the Reno area? Hotel's are boomtown prices. Unless someone has a place for me to crash.

Are you driving or flying? There are options for both.

Either or.

I am a 6hr drive or a 2.5hr flight.

Re: 2013 Reno Air Races - BCP Gathering

Think if I was flying, I'd park in Carson City (KCXP) and rent a car. It's only 35-40 minutes from there to the races, and cheaper than Reno or Truckee for rooms and car rental. If driving, look at Sierra Valley for places to camp. Frenchman's Lake, Blairsden or Graeagle all have spots. Also 35-45 minutes to Stead.

Kevin, Pylon Racing Seminar is held every June in Reno. Seems you live mighty close by. What's stopping you? Bring a friend's Biplane or RV. Or maybe you were just referring to an Unlimited Racer :)

Is this it?: http://www.themenupage.com/restaurant/S ... ning/300/0

If so I'll be there perhaps with spouse at the appointed hour 5:00 etc. I have to be at SLO on Saturday for some damn reason so I'll miss the finals. I'll be there all week during qualifying. I do intend to be out of town for teardown though..... :D

That's the place.
The review for the Santa Fe is several years old. Bar open at 5pm, no lunch anymore, price has gone up with everything else, I will check for Friday's details.

Re: 2013 Reno Air Races - BCP Gathering

I'm still kicking myself in the butt for passing up a FREE P51 ride at Reno one year. My friend Bob asked if I wanted to go for a ride. He said I'd barely fit in the one I would have gone up in. At the time, I wasn't into airplane porn. So I said "that's ok, I'll pass". Damn! What was I thinking at the time??? #-o

Wish I can gather up with you all. Have fun!

Anybody know if Bob Button still owns Voodoo?

And is Bruce Lockwood still racing?

I'd like to check out the air show Friday - Sat, You still offering a ride into Reno from Truckee

Otherwise, alternate transportation from Truckee ?

Yes, Button is still the owner of Voodoo. Should be wheels up around 9am and on it's way to Stead today.

Lockwood hasn't raced since he gave up the reins on Dago Red in 2000.

You can slip into the University's locker room for a free shower. If you're college-age just act like a student or grad student, and if you're older just look and act like a professor. It's worked for me several times during the Air Races.

Re: 2013 Reno Air Races - BCP Gathering

We are doing some flying on Friday morning. More than likely running the "North Circuit" if anyone wants to join. Departing KTRK around 7am. Done by 1030-11- Races by noon. Santa Fe by 5pm for gathering.

NVflyer's Hanger will be open throughout the week with our hanger party Saturday late afternoon.

We are easy to find. When looking at the EAA tent (in the pits) turn 180 degrees and walk 300'. Green and white cub is in hanger with couches, refrigerators and blender. If you need more info, send me a PM.

Re: 2013 Reno Air Races - BCP Gathering

The sound of those big engines is seductive enough that I bought a CD of "The Sounds of Reno" the last time I went. That was in the early 1990's. I'm way overdue for a return, but it won't happen this year. Sigh. Maybe I'll hook up a boom box on my Maule and play that CD on race day.

Anyone know if we can enter with soft-sided coolers and what allowable beverages can come through the gate?
