Had an epic evening the last night in the 4' swell we got. Nice and clean, long rides on the 9'6" barge.

Sounds fun. How are the temps? Is the Gulf Stream working? Please send a Picture!

Across the globe...

Ala Moana has been 4-6' for over two weeks since I got back. No lag day and night. Some days had 8' sets! I went down today to do an oil change and it is still showing great waves! There was a tourist using my dock box to take pictures. I bet she had never seen such clean surf. The Southern Hemisphere will not stop sending good waves, which is great!

Was pretty happy with the 4' sets this morning. Wasn't crowded when I got out there a little past first light, but then all the short boarders showed up from MA and RI.... Goon-time.

Oh well, can't complain too much. Nice to have good surf within a mile from home.

3 days in a row, I'm a little beat. Again, nothing to complain about. Life is good.

Had my coffee and drove down to check it out... Looked about 2-3' but, getting bigger (it was for sure)...

Jumped off the 800 Pier and paddled out the Ala Wai Channel. Waves were breaking about 4-6', not forecast height but, there was power for sure.

Took off deep on a few lefts and did not make it.. Then of course while in the impact zone an eight foot set arrived and caught me inside! Hammered me. Made it back to the sea wall in front of our sailboat, climbed over and got on the boat. Sat down and was very thankful I was OK!

Today should be bigger...stay tuned...

Send me your dates! You can see the Waikiki Hilton on the far right of our sailboat. Was there today surfing world class waves. It was 6-9' and hollow!

waikiki 23 24 25 October... last trip I walked over to the yacht club and had a drink... I'm a member at Coronado Yacht club and we have reciprocal privileges...we like to spend a couple days on Oahu each year even though it's a lot like San Diego it has its own niceties......we had some world class waves here the past few days... I don't surf but we had 10 footers with sets to 15 here and a bit farther north ,Newport beach and such they had 25 footers.....haven't had surf like that here since 96 and this was way bigger , so they say....

Wow! We finally have synchronized. I am leaving on 27-OCT. How many in your party?

The only thing I do here now is pretty much surfing and sailing. Both sports have benign to extreme conditions (here) depending on what we are looking for. The North Shore may have waves too.

Butch (and Jean):

Your on my calendar. Let's meet on the 800 pier or somewhere around there. Snorkeling off the sailboat is pretty interesting. Water is really clear etc...

I have a relatively good surfboard for beginners from Australia or you can hookup with the surf school too. Swimming in warm tropics (compared to the freezing California Current) is just fine for most. I surfed Oregon this July and the water was 47F and the air was 47F one morning! It was bizarre, places in Alaska were warmer.

Welcome to my simplistic world!
