2014 High Sierra Fly-in Dates UPDATED! OCTOBER 10-12th

UPDATE:

2014 High Sierra Fly-in to be held:

October 10-12th. Location: 3 shot guns shells lake bed

I am starting to get a number of folks asking for dates for our 6th Annual High Sierra Fly-in in order for you to get time off.

Here is what I am looking at. Many folks last year asked for it to be earlier as the nights were a bit chilly so I am curious what works best for your?

Zane maybe you can add a poll here with these four selected dates? Keep in mind we have the Reno Air Races from the 10-14th of September.

Of the following dates posted here, what is best for you? Hoping we can break 83 planes this year!

Proposed dates:

August 29, 30 and 31st

September 19,20 and 21st

September 26,27 and 28th

October 10, 11 and 12th. (Oct 8th is a full moon)

Keep in mind the past 5 years we have had it around Halloween. I will let this thread take its course for a week or so and then confirm an actually date from your posts.

Thanks! I am already looking forward to it!

AKTahoe, can you set up a Poll? I hope to make it this year, and the late September dates might work out.

I added a poll, but it's not an administrative thing. You can do it yourself by editing your post and clicking the "Poll Creation" tab.

If you change the options, existing votes will be cleared.

Tom Weiss perished in a mid-air collision October 12, 2014. He was an enthusiastic and beloved contributor here for close to 10 years, and he will be missed greatly.

Re: 2014 High Sierra Fly-in Dates TBD by you!

I like September because it is more likely I can get out and back to NW Oregon. But that is just 1 fools opinion. I'll come no matter when it is.

Cheers...Rob

Re: 2014 High Sierra Fly-in Dates TBD by you!

Where is the Fly-in going to be?
Is there any "New" places it might be held at?
Need to keep it Fresh :)
Perhaps another poll?
Hey, somebody had to bring it up!

Stampede should be low enough to land a 747!
Wouldn't it cool if Meadow Lake was low enough for an LZ.
Just sayin'... Burson should be able to get into both those places without bending his gear :)

October! Annual in September. Whoever was complaining about the cold needs to get a better sleeping pad. :D Last year wasn't bad at all!

I'll be there again this year. One if the best fly-ins I've ever been to. Hope to have the whole family this time. Keep it at 3SGS!

I agree with October.....will likely have a new pilot tagging along with an underpowered plane and he'd appreciate the cooler temps. The pumpkin bombing was a blast too.

Re: 2014 High Sierra Fly-in Dates TBD by you!

After much deliberation, our 5th annual High Sierra Fly-in will be held Oct 23-25th.

Seems as though most everyone wanted October and earlier dates in Oct., were just not working out for my schedule so, they dates are the same ad they have been the past 4 years.

I look forward to hosting all of you in the high desert again!

Details will be virtually the same as last year with some fun additions forth coming. Bring your family and your pumpkins. It's going to be a lot of fun.

More details to come as we get closer.

I hope that we can break our 83 plane record of last year!
