2014 Ohio Bush Planes Fly in???

Is there any plan for an Ohio Bush Planes fly-in this year? Looks like last year(October 2013) was the 17th annual.

In case anyone else was wondering about this, there won't be an Ohio Bush Planes fly in this year. I received an email from Greg Swingle confirming this. There's lot's of good video of last year's event floating around and it looks like they had a really good turnout but it appears the 17th annual was the last.

Hopefully it's just the 'last for now.'

Wishing the best to our pilots in OH!

Sounds like a great time to move the annual fly in over to Evan's new place. Betting he wouldn't say no to some help working on stuff around there

Re: 2014 Ohio Bush Planes Fly in???

HAHA.......Well........

I would love to have some help one of these weekends. But, I wouldn't rule out the OBP fly in just yet. I'm trying to get the details figured out on why more info has not been posted on this. I spoke with Greg and his email to Bender may have been a little vauge in description. He basically isn't sure.

Ever since John moved it to New Philadelphia, OH the politics of the whole fly in changed from what I understand. So maybe some details need worked out. When I talked to John about three or four weeks ago, he said it was still on. So I'll do some more digging in the mean time. I was hoping Patrol Guy was going to chime in by now. I have an email out to him now asking for info.

But since you guys dragged me into it. I'll see if I can find some clarity!

As far as a work party/ camp / fly in I love the idea! I have four large Maples that are going to come down and that will make for one hell of a fire!!!

Well, crazivan ...who does live in a van (down by the muskingum river),
I hope you're happy. It took me and a very expensive team of Ukrainian hackers to get me logged in to reply to this lovely piece of prose.
I saw John graham today. I can validate it was not a cyborg knockoff. H told me with his own mouth that his 403rd annual shindig, although at a different airport and with god knows who stirring the beans, is officially on like a pot of neck-bones.
It is at New Philadelphia, which I think is PHD. Starts on October 3rd and you have to be gone and not leave a trace by Oct 5th.
I am going to make a flyer someday when I have more time, so for now just imagine it.
I'm going to photoshop Emslie and Graham onto a couple of greasy looking chip-n-dale models who are refueling contact flyer's modified Jenny crop duster, while he sits back by the rudder autographing a table full of books with a line of eager backcountry hopefuls trailing off into the sunset.
I'll slap a couple logos on it. -Probably like White Westinghouse and Fox News just to make it look official. Ill say something about how this fly-in is just to be considered the trailhead for WAD...or perhaps we'll draw a culinary metaphor and call it an appetizer for WAD. Then I'll emboss the corners in whatever my favorite colors of the day are and optimize it for the web...but not too optimized cuz somebody is gonna wanna print it.

Bottom line Oct 3-5

Come one come all.

Shittin' in high cotton now, boys...

I'll be coming through OH 2 weeks before. Perhaps I can drop in and say hi a little early. I gotta be some place inside the DC SFRA by the 21st of Sept.

Re: 2014 Ohio Bush Planes Fly in???

I'm in.

Greg did say that there might be a fly in at New Philadelphia but he hadn't heard any news. I should have included that in my post. Greg was kind enough to immediately respond to my email about the event with the info he had. If I threw him "under the bus" it was certainly unintentional and due to my own ignorance. Unfortunately my learning curve seems to have flattened and something like this will probably happen again. My apologies in advance.

Looking forward to meeting some new people out east.

Saturday of the fly-in. Bring your cameras. Just was invited back to this Amish ridge to give Amish teenagers plane rides. It's ok to film them too. This video of Greg's is kind of a "how to" land there.

How "nearby" is the lodging? Do most people camp or lodge?

I already spoke with Rich, but typically everyone camps for those who are wondering.
