2019 Great Alaska Aviation Gathering

It’s getting close to that time of year again. I’m sure all the usual suspects will be there and hope lots of newcomers as well. The Lakefront Anchorage seems to be the spot to meet. You might consider bringing hip boots as the bullshit can get pretty deep :D

What's really cool about living in Homer is when you have been there long enough that being called a "Homeroid" makes you proud. The next step is when you start calling yourself a Homeroid.

(I used to be a Homeroid, therefore I mean no disrespect :D )

I won't make it to the Gathering... We will be leaving TN that weekend with two Cessnas bound for Kenai.

Re: 2019 Great Alaska Aviation Gathering

Bump. Two weeks, Beluga Lake is broken up and I have heard the ice on Hood is rotten. I have been drinking a lot more to build tolerance both of alcohol and Trent's bullshit. I bought my ticket for the supercub, and have an Alaska Airmen's Hoody on order (last two years they sold out of navy blue hoodies in Large and extra large, now, it would seem that if you are selling out you are not charging enough, or, you need to order more).

I am flying up on the second or third and have the Millennium for the third and fourth. I will be signing autographs and taking selfies with folks at the bar both nights 8)

You must weather both Trent AND Wes's bullshit. It's expensive.

I'd rather loose my memory than live in Wasyphilis, but I won't be stuck here for much longer....

I'll float through on Friday night to meet the crew.

Re: 2019 Great Alaska Aviation Gathering

Just looking at the speaker's schedule. CC Pocock is going to teach STOL techniques on Saturday in the tent. I am going to attend I want to see if he is as big of a clown as he comes off as in his videos or actually has something useful. Either way it will be something to talk about at the bar.

So is there any vetting process before you get to be a speaker at this event, or do you just buy a time slot?

CC is a super good guy! Little rough on the edges but solid. He is easy to tease and takes it well. Love him. He's a good dude!

You guys have fun. I'll be back up on Monday to pick up my new cub. Currently taking offers

CC came to the Texas STOL Roundup last fall, in his basically stock Cessna 170B. About the only mod was big tires. He did a great job flying that airplane and won his class.....that's with a stock O-300 engine, folks. I was quite impressed.

And, as Kevin said, he's a genuinely good guy.

I suspect he is running the 80/42 prop as well. The factory prop made the airplane a dog...
