26" Goodyear STC

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Re: 26" Goodyear STC

I have had my FBO owner ask the local FSDO about putting the Goodyear 26" tires on my C180C and his answer both times was, 6 bolt wheels. Even with MTNWEST's 337 from Colorado less than a year ago showing 3 bolt wheels.

I can see the attraction for running tubeless if possible- no ripping the valve stem out if/when the tire spins on the wheel. But I'm curious why you would run 700 tubes with an 850 tire?

Cause they are much lighter and way cheaper than 8.50 tubes, especially when you have a set of one and not the other.

Are Matco wheels already tapped for a tubeless valve, or do you make that modification yourself?

You know, I don't know, that is a good question. Call George and ask him. The dude is a rock star in my book!

Re: 26" Goodyear STC

Hey everyone,

I'm resurrecting this thread because it is close on subject matter for my question. I'm looking at doing a field approval for 26" Goodyear blimp tires for my 205. I currently have a friend that is running them without approval, so I know it works. 29" are allowed via a few STCs and brake and wheel changes. But I'd like to get the 26" approved to avoid having the do those changes.

So my question is, what wheel is approved for the 26" Goodyear blimp tire? I've been doing some digging but not finding a list of wheels that are approved.

Thanks!

Thanks Phil. I’m seeing there are a few FA on here in another thread but some links aren’t working. You by chance have a digital copy you could send me do you?

Re: 26" Goodyear STC

I assume the Field approval paperwork would be similar for the lighter Cessna 172. If anyone has this paperwork I would love to have it so I can get them installed on my 172. [email protected]
