The 3rd annual Lake Meredith Splash In will be this coming weekend, June 1st. I'm driving down Friday afternoon to help out, staying the weekend in my new motorhome.
It's located near Ordway, CO, north of La Junta. There will be transportation from the La Junta airport, for those who would like to fly in. Anticipating a few float planes, including Steve McGaughey, the executive director of Seaplane Pilots Association in his Super Cub, plus a Grumman Widgeon, but who knows? Lots of boats, too, as a boating get together will be happening the same weekend.
Anyone flying into Lake Meredith must first got to La Junta for an invasive species inspection, then hop over to Lake Meredith.
Camping at Lake Meredith is free, but the facilities are close to non-existent. There's a permanent potty which is really, really gross, but we'll have several porta-potties, plus a dumpster for trash. There is no fresh water (other than the lake itself), so anyone camping must be prepared with their own.
This has been a fun excursion for me for each of the two past events, and I think others who have participated have enjoyed themselves, too. Hope some of you all can be there!
