57 year old Airworthiness Certificate

My Airworthiness Certificate is starting to disintegrate after 57 years. What are my options? Can I Photocopy it, or laminate it? Or apply for a new one?

If you take your old one to the FSDO I believe you can just get a new one. That's what I did, but I was changing my N number as well.

Yep FSDO for a new one.

I have laminated them before. It makes sense to preserve them.

I have had some say you aren't supposed to do that, but I can't find any regulation against lamination..

This application form may or may not be required for a replacement:
http://www.faa.gov/documentlibrary/medi ... 8130-6.pdf

Try this first; http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/fie ... ficate.pdf

I'm guessing that you will need to send this application for replacement to OK city. Personally, I would take the old one, and a filled out application to FSDO and have a mechanical inspector work through it with me.

I went to the FAA site, and searched "replacement airworthiness certificate".

Been there, done that. All you need to do is contact the FSDO. They'll tell you what is required. They may have you submit a Replacement Certificate Request form http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/field_offices/fsdo/abe/local_more/media/request%20for%20replacement%20airworthiness%20certificate.pdf for a replacement certificate or you may just have to write a letter explaining that you are the owner of N_______, the C of A is ___________ (lost, tattered beyond legibility, etc.) and that you are requesting a replacement. I received a new one through the mail.

Yup. Get a new one and laminate it. I did that for all the club planes and mine as well.
