Since I'm a new member, I'll introduce myself--fly out of a private strip in NE Pennsylvania, just north of Scranton, been flying and restoring Stearmans for more years than I'll admit to. Love grass fields, and anyone who also likes 1800 foot grass fields is invited to visit.

Look forward to this flyin and meeting more grass field pilots.

Hi stearmansteve,

Yes, Pegasus (50PA) is on the NY sectional. It is just NE of Allentown (LVI). I fly frequently to Cherry Ridge and Sky Haven. Where exactly is your field? I am always looking for somewhere new to go!

Skystrider....your doings sound so good I might come east instead of west..been to JC the last two years, NEVER been to PA.
HC

HC, you have NEVER have been to PA! Why we are on the cover of this month's Pilot Getaways! Monroe County in the Poconos!

Would love to have you, especially if it tweaks Z! 8)

Re: 6/25/10 - BCP Fly-In - Sciota, PA (50PA)

Good evening,
I've been reading the wealth of entertaining and informative posts here for a long time, but when I saw this post I figured it was time to join. I'm going to try my best to make the flyin. My wife has a longtime friend that lives in East Stroudsburg and she's been wanting to get out there for a visit, so I think we may be able to join you fellas for a part of the weekend at least.

While I'm here, I'd like to invite all of you to 6Y9, Sidnaw, MI, over labor day weekend. Many planes will arrive on Friday Sept. 3 and some will not leave until Monday Sept. 6. I think most of you guys would really enjoy Sidnaw and the UP of Michigan. You can find some information about the airport at http://www.sidnaw.org/6y9/index.htm. You can see pictures from past years' flyins under the "airport events" link. I'll create a seperate post for the Sidnaw flyin, but thought I'd share it with you guys while I was here.

Thanks for the welcome. The field in up here actually belongs to a good friend of mine. It's our version of backcountry. We don't have the elevation and rocks, but we do have the solitude.

Like everyone here, we'll watch the weather and hopefully we'll be able to make it out there.

Well, it look like we have about 15 planes coming in so far. We have wood cut, split and stacked for Friday and Saturday night fires. I will make sure there is a couple of cases of cold brew and soda. There are two good grills to cook on.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

Hi Justine,

It is Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Bring a tent and pitch it under your wing. We have a refrigerator in the Chapter hangar, a microwave, and a couple of grills for cooking. There are two porta-potties and water for washing but no showers. There is a close by motel if you would prefer a room.

We have a big fire ring and wood so bring a chair or steal one of the ones we have in the hangar. There are great local places to fly to for breakfast or lunch. Or we can "send out" for donuts for breakfast or maybe pizza for dinner. But most of all bring a good time!

We were kind of stuck last year with high winds but I am hoping we can fly-out to Grimes http://www.goldenageair.org/ for a visit.

Ohhh, errrr, hmmmm. #-o

It looks like Sciota is only an hour's flight for me... I would be interested in coming for a day, but I don't think I'd want to spend money on a motel (I'm a poor aircraft owner now :/). Is Sunday a pretty full day, or do people just have breakfast and start packing up? Are non-BCP members allowed to come? I have an uncle with an RV who'd probably like the trip, too.

Most will probably fly out Sunday morning so I would expect Saturday to be the "activity" day. Not that I won't fly all day Sunday if it is nice!

Bring your uncle. We have a RV-9 and a RV-4 on the field. He is more than welcome!
