Don't go blowing your AvGas money on cameras Pops! I pledge 1 extremely used prop-friendly camera to the 2 mile high cause. Only thing is you gotta wait until after Valdez. Everyone needs more Pops videos for the soul.

just another way of saying " no mixture control". Unless you have a leaky primer, then it's extra rich!

I did the conversion a few years back (before Terry took over the STC), found several problems and questions, found a few solutions, discovered a couple of inadequacies, etc. I made up a lot of notes and ideas based on my experience. Glad to send those notes to you and help with whatever my experience might be worth.

For what it is worth I recommend AGAINST the version with the long engine mount and the electrical system. To do this, you will need to find the smallest magnetos approved for that engine. But the result IMHO is worth it for handling and appearance.

We had a dandy fracas on the T-craft discussion group regarding the addition of plywood spar doublers. Also, I don't give a hoot in hell what the instructions say about not gluing them, glue in the new spar bushings. You can drill them out later if you really need to, and the glue makes the bushing help PREVENT splitting the wood insteadof having the bushing act like a splitting wedge.

Do not forget refurbishing and repairing the lower crankcase baffle! This is your primary oil cooling on that stock 85 installation. Your oil temperatures and cylinder head temperatures will be up in the dangerous area otherwise.

No, no video camera, maybe one of these days. I tried a couple and didn't like them, so sold em on e-bay. Prop flicker issues drive me nuts.. ha ha.

That looks like a beautiful place you found to land and takeoff on the high mountains with the T-craft, Joe. Thank you for sharing your technique on how you made it happen under ideal conditions. I am yet to find such a nice place above 10,000 ft. to land and takeoff over here. It is rough and steep, and you need at least 31 inch tires or larger to do it safely. but I am still looking! By-the-way, "EZflap" you are really cute!!

Oh Jeeez.... she was'nt a paid model, she did it for me as a favor when I got my FAA approval. She'd been a fashion model, and now she's got a film production company. The new model in my promotional video is even better looking, and almost half the age. Eeehhh... what's the big deal, they grow on trees around here...

Now truth be known, I was actually very cute when I was a little kid, but arguing about flap systems with pilots on internet discussion groups made me ugly, old and haggard. When we start arguing about landing gears very shortly, it'll make me look like the friggin' Crypt Keeper for sure.

I think we all have gotten into an argument or two around here. We all have some kind of strong opinions that my not jive with some others. But, I try not to hold any grudges.
