A light day for Kirby Chambliss

I LOVE how casual Kirby is about the abuse he inflicts on this reporter. I would give blood or treasure to get a similar ride!

My favorite line to the already-queasy reporter: We're just going to pull 6gs, "that way it gives you something to write about..."

HAHA! My favorite part is when he is doing the rolls and the reporters head is swinging back and forth across the cockpit.

Re: A light day for Kirby Chambliss

Awesome. I wonder what media outlet the reporter was doing the story for? Kirby kept saying "You're doing good. This is going to look great for your video." I think that reporter bit off more than he could chew. I think Kirby enjoys just messing with these reporters especially when he asked if he had seen any air races on TV. I figured they would at least give a reporter a ride who knows a thing or 2 or has a passion for aviation. Awesome video

Haha. Damn! I've had a basic aerobatics class and I think I would be shitting my drawers with an intro sequence like that.

The guy was a reporter for the Seattle P.I. No idea whether he had any flight experience (I'm guessing not), but methinks those forward somersaults would have been a hell of an intro for just about any of us!!! :D

Re: A light day for Kirby Chambliss

When I gave demo rides in my Pitts S2A, I treated my passengers with kid gloves. I gave a thorough briefing on the ground before we took off and explained what we would do if they felt queasy. When describing the easy flying we'd do if they felt queasy, one naval aviator passenger aggressively said: " ...you can't make me sick ". Hmmm, sounds like a challenge. I did the standard routine of positive G maneuvers and this guy did fine. Then I rolled knife edge and pushed hard on the stick for a negative G turn, rolled inverted and did a negative G push up, followed by a negative G Humpty Bump over the top with multiple snaps on the way back down. He filled 3 bags. It is easy to surprise passengers with the unexpected and make them lose their lunch. Getting a neophyte through a ride intact requires more care. This reporter did remarkably well given his lack of familiarity with acro and the relatively aggressive routines Chambliss put him through.

LOL!

I wonder if he ever accidentally gave that same briefing at Southwest...

"You feel that?"

"Uh, whoa.. yeah."

I feel a little bad for the guy, but that was pretty hilarious. :D

Kirby's pretty brave, or he's got some sort of vomit shield for the back seat!

Re: A light day for Kirby Chambliss

That's what I couldn't believe--either Kirby's just impervious to puke at this point, or he didn't realize how green behind the gills his front-seater was getting. Either way, I spent the whole time thinking to myself that I'd be looking for a place to land MY plane if I had a passenger in that condition, instead of proceeding to pull 6gs with him!

The coolness of riding with Chambliss would be inversely proportional to the embarrassment of chucking all over his front seat.

How many times total did his head bounce off the side of the canopy?

"It will be fun. Trust me, it's no big deal." hehe. I don't why but I've been giggling about this video all day; probly the lack of flying is getting to me.

Haha. I dont know what else you could do. Oh theres lots more we can do if you want! That cracked me up. He looked like he was knocked out a couple times when his head bounced off the canopy and then he looked down... Man what I would give for a ride with Kirby...

Re: A light day for Kirby Chambliss

I'm betting he saw his lunch again before they landed.

He had that look.....and when they get that look, the technicolor yawn ain't far off.

Don't ask how I know that.....and, no, I've never had motion sickness.

I laughed during most of the video and bore down holding my breath through the entire 6G turn! I don't care who he is, I have no desire to get in his plane! :-#

And RanchPilot that throw up video is gross! #-o
