Sorry to bump this back to the top, but I had to speak up as well. When I found this site, the reason I was immediately hooked was because it was about backcountry flying. It didn't matter what you were flying, just so long as you love the backcountry. I've been on other sites that, after the first few posts, it quickly deteriorates into useless name calling and arguing. I quite viewing those sites because I had better things to do with my time, one of which was to visit this site. I would hate to see this site turn into one of those sites. It's unfortunate that some have left the site when feathers were ruffled, because there are some good people that no longer post. None the less, like others have said, let's get back to talking backcountry and flying. After all, that is what it is all about as far as I'm concerned. Thanks again Zane for all of your work.

I agree,

My youngest son just recieved his B.S. degree last month. He has a bit of dead time between now and Law School next fall. We spent some time this afternoon sorting out some future backcountry flying. In fact we are so sick of winter that we're thinking of loading up the Maule and heading to Florida or Arizona for some warm weather flying/camping.

Too cold in the Backcountry....country....but we have the itch just the same. Rest assured that he and I will use this site as a valuable source in the future; just as we have in the past.

Thanks for being here for us.

Living the Dream

Some years ago i was quite mouthy. I was a know it all and kinda cocky. My reasoning was these people i shall never meet. Funny thing, the flying world is a real small community. After meeting about 30 of the people i was never to run into, i deceided i did'nt want to be embarrased and feel like a fool. For the last several years i never log onto political forum topics, it takes away my enjoyment from a site. Unfortunately i can really draw my own conclusion of a person by what i view their political beleifs. What a waste of time. This is a real nice site. I may not have that opinion if i had logged onto that section frequently. This is a great flying site, please leave it at that. We disagree lot's about aircraft, models, mods, types and lot's of other things. That is enough. Hopefully zane and the offenders can come to peace with this and maybe zane will just give em a 30 day detention and another chance. It will sort itself out.

Welcome Back Butch! :D

This web forum medium is a different type of meeting and socializing with people. Zane as the moderator and administrator I agree with your decision not to get into the debates in the future if you are going to moderate. It certainly gives the wrong message when you are debating an issue then moderate it to Hot Air. It can be misconstrued as a conflict of interest no matter how good the intentions for it being done. That Said; it has to be done sometimes by someone who doesn't appear to have a dog in the hunt to keep the debate civilized. Good Management Decision!=D>

Although politics and policy in our country is important to some of us and debate is an American Freedom for the thinking, knowledgeable, people of this great country that was paid for in Blood! So to dismiss debate as politically correct is misguided for pilots. Ask AOPA or EAA if politics is not a threat to General Aviation on a lot of levels.
Lets just remember we have the right to agree to disagree and most times that is the way to leave it in a Free country. Remember the alternative to civilized debate and negotiation is Subjugation or War! and who knows it may come to that, it has before, when the focus is tunnel vision, close minds, or apathy!
