We'll see. Depends on my state of mind when I get back from MN. I may fly to Boise or McCall and drive in with a buddy who lives in Idaho. Sounds lame, I know, coming from the guy who started a backcountry flying website.

I think it's a good idea that you can't drive in camp a 3U2, otherwise there could be trouble for fly-in campers trying to find a campsite. These rules apply to most Idaho fly-in campgrounds.

I believe you can drive in to camp at Big Creek though, but I hear it takes a while to get in there by road.

Well somebody come pick me up at McCall then! Otherwise I'll have to Dukes of Hazzard over the 3U2 fence. That counts as flying doesn't it?

In all likelyhood I'll be relaxing in a Sierra swimming hole somewhere.

Someone could come and get you Zane, it's only about thirty miles to McCall from most of these places.

Paso Robles! One of my favorites. We try to get over there a couple of times a year.

They have a really good Fair and Rodeo too.

The Zinfandel Festival is also a lotta fun.

I did my long XC for my Private to Paso Robles. I have also consumed wine there. Santa Ynez valley is also rich with wineries. The airport holds a special place in my heart...it's where I became one of us.

Nah, I met her parents on our first date. Her mom's family is from back there. We are going to do some exploring, canoe Boundary Waters, maybe get up into Canada, or take a float plane ride. I must morph this family vacation into my own personal flying fix. I need to get in touch with BRD, that guy gets all over those parts in various float planes.

Didn't read every detail of this thread, so pardon me if I am repeating something, but I think Dave Kirsten would welcome all comers to the cub fly in he is putting on based in Johnson Creek on the 19th, 20th, 21st.

You can read about it over on supercub.org in the gatherings area. Lots of freebies including a drawing for a set of bushwheels, etc.

I'm about 84% sure I will fly out to BurMan as well, have a hangar arranged, etc. Just waiting on the other 16%...

We're home with the plane safely locked unpranged in the hangar. Had a blast and wish more from this forum could have been there. Seventy-five planes in attendance, mostly Cub's (big surprise ), but a good mix of many types. Saturday morning traffic was like LAX.
