A Trip I Will Never Forget. (Albeit Around The Pattern)

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: A Trip I Will Never Forget. (Albeit Around The Pattern)

YEAHHH!!! =D>

I'm glad you included "the sound"--the one on the intercom after the first landing. I'm betting everyone who has soloed has made that sound in one form or another. When I made that sound, it was louder, more high-pitched, and just as relieved. :D

First solo is an amazing feeling of accomplishment, and a gateway to an entirely new perspective on the world. There is something truly magical about the idea that you are now capable of climbing in an airplane all by yourself and taking it wherever you want to go. It changes how you think of yourself, and how you look at the world as a result. It's like having your own magic carpet.

Congrats, and welcome to the magic carpet club.

Major congrats, I wish I could do my first solo all over again, that feeling you get is unlike anything else.

I was dealing with some medical issues the same time you where while I was working towards my commercial... in the end things worked them selves out, tho I can't get my 2nd class at this time and work commercially, I figured out I can still get all my ratings and still work as a CFI under part 61. But yes I believe patience is key, and like you something I never had.

Your videos will only get more entertaining every time you go out, keep posting them, its cool to watch people progress through there videos.

Best of luck!

Congrats. One question - what is "closed traffic" or "close traffic" that I heard you mention to the tower in your call up? I'm a Canadian pilot and have never heard that term before?

Closed traffic refers to a pattern that only goes around the take off and landing pattern. Usually used when doing continual touch and goes or stop and goes.
