Aerocet 3500L trade in or sell outright?

These are on a 182P. The current non- internet user owner is looking to either go to amphibious floats or back to wheels all together. These are about 10 years old and in great shape. Fresh water used only. Approximately what would a fair price be for these to sell?

I've seen them for sale for 35 but I'd give you 25 if the rigging is the same for a 185

It is not the same rigging as a 185, not even close really.

$35k would be a good price in the current over inflated market.

As is often the case a “fair price” is what’s fair to a prospective buyer.

In this case, there are a couple of variables here.

First, not a lot of 182s on floats, and probably not that many wanting to do so. So the prospective market may be small.

Second is the fact that these are desirable floats….to a point. As the owner has obviously discovered, straight floats can be very restrictive, depending on where you’re based. But, the good news is, if you can find THAT potential buyer, he won’t have a lot of other used options.

I’d get on sites that cater to 182s and or seaplanes.

As noted above, the rigging on a 182 is totally different than a 180/185. If he separates the rigging from the barrels, he could open up the range of buyers, but then he’d have to try to sell the rigging. Better to keep it all together.

Out of curiosity...

If a guy wanted to put these on a 180/185, what's a ballpark figure to buy new rigging? Would it be cost prohibitive?

Re: Aerocet 3500L trade in or sell outright?

All Aerocet attach gear or “rigging” is directly cross compatible with EDO attach gear, very clever of them to do that. A complete set of EDO 3430 attach gear works on Aerocet 3500.

You might be able to find a used set for as low as $1500, emphasis on the “might”.

A brand new set of Aerocet attach gear would be close to $5000. If anyone is really interested ping acorn welding for a quote.

Wow, that’s good to know. Since I have 3430’s now I could just buy any Aerocet 3500’s and use the Edo stuff? Then sell the 3430’s with the aerocet rigging?

Re: Aerocet 3500L trade in or sell outright?

Aerocet 3500 attach gear for the Cessna 180/185 should be a direct PMA’d replacement for EDO 3430 attach gear on the 180/185. That’s how I remember it anyways, best to check before spending any big money.

Aerocet/Seaplanes West 182 attach gear on EDO 3430 wouldn’t work as EDO 3430 are not approved on the Cessna 182. Confusing yes, but the seaplanes west STC for the 182 on covers EDO 2960/2870 and Aerocet 3500/3400

Where are the floats geographically? I have 3430s now, and was looking for aerocets. You never know how the world works.

Sorry for the late reply. They are in Northern Michigan. I'll see what he's planning and get back to this thread.
