Aerocet floats are to floats......

I flew Brian's 180 on 3500 Aerocets last Thursday up at Surfside. It was a beautiful day with just enough wind so that the water wasn't glassy while I did a bunch of touch and go's with him. They are really nice floats and he showed me how they will almost find the step sweet spot for you by just letting go of the yoke and then applying just a little back pressure. Anyway, after I thought about it, I decided that Aerocets are to floats what Bushwheels are to tires. They both make flying easier.

I think they have taken a big market share. You only need to pump them out for exercise, never any water, huge compartments and so easy to fly, even Marty can do it (kidding). Very happy with mine.

Sad to say, I am flying back to the Park Rapids float pond tomorrow to put the plane up for the winter. Because of wet ground conditions we never did get the hanger up this summer, have to wait for freeze-up, so south it goes. The corn is toast in Illinois, so I need to head that way in a few days to do my John Deere thing.

Glad you got to have some fun Marty.

Bummer Steve. I figure I have still have 2 more good trips up north. Closing up camp at end of Sept and fishing the trout when they are up shallow spawning is highlight of fishing season. I can't have a lot of pity on you though. You get to spend the whole summer north of the border and I only manage about 25 days. Hopefully we can hook up next summer. I sure love my Aerocets also. Hard to imagine ever going back to metal. Russ

Not to mention how much more abuse they'll take than aluminum........

God put me here to accomplish a certain amount of things...right now I'm so far behind, I'll never die!!

Re: Aerocet floats are to floats......

Went to N. lake again last week and had a repeat on the Lake trout. Yes, I feel lucky to be able to have most of the summer here and will have all winter to chase trout, so a little work won't slow me down too much. With good weather, I hope to be back by moose season (Oct 15th).

Hardtailjohn, I have perfected the three bounce landing and they don't seem to mind.

Crane lake bound in an hour.

Re: Aerocet floats are to floats......

I have both 3430 edo's on the 185 and aerocet 3500's on the 180 and like them both, but if only had 1 choice the aluminum would go. I had a new set of aluminum floats on a 172 float trainer with flush rivets on the bottom skins trying to be slicker? and after 500 hours in 1 year they fell apart, will not have them again. Would like to have the 2200 aerocets on a 172 float trainer, maybee in the future!
