Re: Aircraft tug options

While your thinking about it, it wouldn't hurt to spend the $300 on a 110v free wheeling winch and mount it in the back of the hangar. I have plenty of other options available to me, however the winch has turned to to be the best choice in all 3 of my hangars.

I've had winches in a couple hangars also. If your only concern is pulling the plane into the hangar, they are an amazingly cost effective and easy to use solution.

I have a winch on the back wall of the hanger that works great. I made a front tow bar for pulling out plane when on straight skis. I use a polaris explorer 350CC machine with chains year round and it does great at draging planes all over the airport.

Re: Aircraft tug options

Okay, here is the TRUE pilot’s solution: Buy a winch and install it in back of the hangar. Then, buy a four wheeler just in case the winch were to fail.....keep the four wheeler at home.

Problems solved!
