Brad , have you used them for fuel? How is the durability and how are they for dumping in to the wing?
Do you recommend them for fuel as well? Thanks for your input.

interresting that this would come up now... Last week I went to buy another 5 gal gas can to buy and store some in the hangar when I find a cheaper gas price than the gougers here at Gillespie field... I usually fuel at Brown field as First Flight has the cheapest gas around... You absolutely cannot find a gas can that just pours gas out of a spout any more... I finally settled on one that has this damn pressure button on it that won't let gas come out till you depress the end of the spout ... OK for cars but not for a wing tank... In addition to that there is no air hole or way to let air into the can so the gas can come out.... You have to wait for a bubble of air to sneak into the spout past the gas to let more gas out... So I just take the damned spout off and replace it with one of my old spouts from my other two cans... then I pour the gas from the new can into the old ones so I won't have to spend a hour holding a gas can up on the wing.....What a pain in the ass....another wacko idea brought on by the ecology bunch....

Dude,
The only way to go for every day use. Long spout, do not tip over in the back of your pickup, screw on vent cap and do not leak!

Ken-
Have not used them yet, but on the cub site and in the Alaska float community folks swear by them. They work with avgas and auto. The six I got from cheaper than dirt are all brand new and impressive. For fueling buy a three foot piece of plastic tubing. I can't recall what size but one of the standard sizes fits in the opening, drop the hose in the tank, and lay the bag on the wing for a minute.
I'm on floats in Canada and will be filling with them today. I'll let you know.
At ten bucks a pop you can't go wrong.

One of these and the ABW gas bag and my fuel transportation needs are fully covered, plane, lawn mower, tractor or whatever. Great price for a quality product too.

I just tossed 4 of these into the dumpster (just yesterday) at KRVS you're welcome to go diving!
I have used them several times (they take a lot of cleaning and you really need a mr funnel but the bag concept is great) and I WAS comfortable with them untill I had the cap on one break, spewing fuel all over the bed of my truck on the short drive from station to hanger... These have never been abused or tossed around, or left out in the sun for days on end and looking at the others I found cracks in two more so tata.
Whup or Bill please remember to bring me a bag to the SC.org flyin next week at JC,
Thanks Kirby

Normally you get what you pay for.
I took 2 of the collapsible Stan Sport water jugs to haul gas in Mexico. Both new. One had a hole from the factory.
Good day

I agree! These were the only game in town when I purchased a few years ago at a lot more than $3 each!

Don't put mogas in the Swiss water bags
I've heard they are popular in AK for av gas, but ethanol melts. them. down. (I just threw away two of them after inadvertantly proving the concept)
Last I heard, the ABW bags are ok for mogas (but you should check for yourself). If so, probably another justification for the price.

Make sure your valve is a sch 80 or it will weld/melt itself together

..... the sch 40 is pretty soft
Don't ask how I know.

I know it's the rebel in you, Rob, but if you do the math with your set up using 2 of the ABW gas bags, plumbing, hand truck and plastic bin it will take 12.3 "walks" to town for mogas to break even. But then again, it's good exercise.
Cheers,
Denis

Rob , nice gas bags. I put a order in to Cheaper then dirt for the water bags. If they work for a few times its ok with me. Then I will get two or 3 from ABW. I have 10 of the military 5 gal fuel cans. They work great and I have used them for many years. But in my Stinson like a lot of planes they take up room. There is a 4 gal gas can for ATVs on the market. They are 3 inch thick and a bout 16 inch wide by 36 in long and strap to the back of a 4 wheeler and lay flat. The down size is they hold 4 gal. and run about $84 bucks here in Alaska. So the ABW jug is looking pretty good.

I won't walk to the station more than 2X I figure if I am slow and steady I'll get exercise and save some real money. I have to walk everyday to keep my blood sugar down. Diabetes. So for me it is a win win.
Good day

Dumped 3bags into the M7 today to test my setup. Didn't spill a drop. Good to go. Takes under 2 minutes to dump 6 gallons.

Good day
