Head towards Denali, with a stop in Talkeetna for a cub ride to a glacier - who would I talk to about that? Then a few nights in Denali, and the train ride back. I talked with my Mom and she said she likes trains so that is a go. Thanks for all the help... keep it coming!

If you want to take a Cub ride out of Talkeetna, there are a number of Air Taxis that you can utilize. You can probably just go out to the airport when you get to Talkeetna and find out which outfit to use, but here are two that are good. I like K2:

For those people that visit Alaska, a flight seeing trip to the Ruth Glacier and Denali is usually the highlight of their trip -- it is breathtaking and will stand out more than any other adventure that they experience.

Re: Alaska Trip

I'm sure a lot has changed since I left there in 1973, but during my 3 year tour with Uncle at Anchorage, we traveled all around the area in the motorhome, up to Fairbanks, to Denali, to Cordova, down to Seward, etc. There's an incredible amount of things to see within relatively easy driving distance from Anchorage, whether down to Seward, up to the Matanuska valley, etc. The drive to Valdez is gorgeous with all the waterfalls. The biggest problem with Alaska is that it is so big!

As for mom's queasies, take a look at this: http://www.aeromedix.com/Reletex-Anti-N ... evice.html. My Marilyn has the weakest stomach west of the Mississippi, and with her "watch band" on, she has no nausea, none at all. She hates to fly, so it hasn't been used for that for several years, but we have chartered boats in the Washington and BC San Juans, and it has prevented her from having any problems at all. It's a lot better than any of the anti-nausea meds, with no after effects at all.
