Albany River/Attawapiskat River
Information and discussion about seaplanes, float planes, and water operations.
Anyone been into these rivers. I know some outfitters operating camps and canoe trips on the rivers. I will be heading up there this spring to do some fishing and maybe back in the fall for moose (wmu 17 or 1D), depending on what I see. Im looking for good stretches of river or lakes to get in and out and sand/gravel beach to tie up and camp. 185 amphib

Sorry that no one had anything to reply with.
What's the attraction for you up there? It looks like so much muskeg! The community of Attawapiskat hasn't exactly built itself a reputation as a tourist destination.
The Churchill River drainage in Northern Saskatchewan holds some attraction for me. The water that I've seen has been crystal clear. I don't know if it still is when it hits Hudsons Bay, or if it picks up the reddish brown tint like in Red Lake.
I'm interested to hear more about where you fly.

Pinecone,
The Attawapiskat River system is quite famous in its own right as a premier speckled trout fishery. The area is certainly very remote, and, as you said, all swamp. But it does breed great spec fishing, and black flies.
Firebird, what are your plans for fuel? Moosonee? Avgas can be very scarce there at times. I'd suggest giving Bushland Airways or Wabusk a call ahead to ensure you can get it. Cochrane is a great little airport as well, they might be a good option if you are going to tanker fuel. Hearst Air also operates up there, they might be of assistance. Sounds like a great trip ahead.

The attraction must be the fish soup that the chief up there is so famous for eating!

Used to work in t bay and red lake. I know those districts half decent. Never explored north eastern ontario.

How about a red and white Maule? I have flown up that way to the Sutton river. The attawapiskat if you follow it up has a ton of good landing spots. Your biggest concern other than the black flies and the weather as you get up there should be fuel. I have used Hearst air to ferry me up drums of fuel, to the Sutton. I have also had fuel brought into attawapiskat but that is a little trickier and takes some coordination.

Anything red and white on floats is good lol.
Ive got long range tanks. I havnt plotted it on the map yet but looks like I have enough fuel for in and out and more than reserve.
Does Landsdowne or fort hope have avgas anymore? I guess I could call up there.
Really looking for more on the river systems. And I'd prefer the Albany for distance and fuel.
