The IFLY 700 GPS by Adventure Pilot has an internal antenna, and a simple panel mount with no external has worked fine in the past for me. But since replacing my aluminum panel with a carbon one, and installing a GRT MINI, I no longer get a signal, even after a unrelated upgrade to the newer 720. Near as IFLY and I can tell, the MINI is somehow effecting the incoming signal. So, I ordered a optional external antenna, and that should solve the problem. Only problem is... when I went to plug it in, no go. I got my reading glasses and got in some good light, still no go.
After contacting Adventure Pilot/IFLY I was assured that a gentle push was all that was required to make the connection. At one point I mentioned I had a fine selection of hammers in the shop, as I sure as hell couldn't get it in there by hand, despite repeated suggestions that was all that was required. The service rep continued to be non snotty, and didn't get sarcastic (though I imagined him telling others that he got the lamest call yet for tech help, some hick in Idaho couldn't even plug in the frigging ex. antenna) while I got just a tad insistent that we had a problem. Well, just a few hours ago, after a mutual exchange of pictures it turns out I was sent the wrong antenna, and the correct one is on its way. I'm a happy camper, problem solved, no extra charge of course, we should have exchanged pictures earlier as that cleared it right up
