Amphib 182F-- Help estimating value for sale?
Owning an aircraft has many special considerations like financing, taxes, inspections, registration, and even partnerships. You can post questions on buying and selling procedure. Please post type-specific questions and topics in the
Types forum.
I guess the financing portion of it is what will cause the issues. Once the cost of money goes up these prices will need to come down. I have seen it across everything that banks are putting 20 year loans on. The prices just keep going up. If rates go up to more historically normal percentages (prior to 07) there is no way that people will be able to afford the same planes.
Sorry for the thread drift. Your plane looks awesome. A year or so from now I would give you a shout.

Hey Allan,
I've just bought a 185 and sold a 180 and I'm local to you. All I can say is that at the moment the Cessna floatplanes are hot. I have no idea how long it will last but right now it's a sellers market. I got a letter from CS out of Ontario asking if I'd sell my 185 and I've gotten a phone call from another broker but I don't remember who, I was busy and told him no. I don't think I'd bother with a broker though, they want a significant percentage of the sale price for their services. I sold mine with a free ad on Barnstormers. Your 182 is a little harder to put a number on because of fewer examples on the market but I'd probably start at $150-160K US and see where it goes.

C & S brokers have been calling all around to "secure" inventory. If they can get you on an "exclusive" contract they can then collect their percentage even if you sell it privately. If you are a member the COPA site has a classified section but for wide coverage Barnstormers is the place to be. I guess the issue is with view and inspection given the border crossing restriction that are still in place for an out of country buyer.

I look at TAP and Barnstormers every day and I have to agree that 150-175K seems reasonable. I would suggest starting at 175 and, if you don’t get responses, drop the price some. The season is on us though, so delaying wouldn’t work in your favor. I also agree that a broker seems like an easy way to throw away some cash. If you aren’t familiar with aircraft Escrow services, they make everything about the sale incredibly easy and basically bullet proof. The only thing you have to deal with is enduring having the tires kicked and figuring out who sits on which side for a demo ride.
Sorry to see you sell your awesome aircraft but totally respect your position.
