Re: Angle of attack

Well done video, Larry, of the value of the angle of attack indicator in doing what the airplane is comfortable with doing in any aspect of flight. My greatest interest is in the ability of the instrument to gauge sufficient relative wind during deceleration on short final. While I use and teach maintenance of the apparent brisk walk rate of closure to decelerate on short final, I and my students are dependent on sounds and kinetic feel to gauge sufficient lift all the way down. Coming into ground effect is a major advantage in either case. Your instrument will also gauge DA and gross weight variables. Again, we have to depend on sounds and kinetic feel along with observation of the apparent brisk walk all the way down. I saw the possibility of pilots to acquire a feel for relative wind noise and buoyancy safely using the angle of attack indicator.
